Hofstra Men's Lax

Post by Mikey77 »

Anybody have any analysis on this year's team? Will the drift backward continue? HU opens with Lehigh on Saturday a team we used to beat regularly until last year.

To Mickey77, try the college lacrosse forum 2019 on FanLax.com. The Hobart Thread towards the end has a few posts about the scrimmage this past Saturday (13-13 in 5 quarters). HU is very young with the need to replace 18 players to graduation. HU was projected at #3 in the CAA with Ryan Tierney the only preseason all CAA team member. By the way, Lehigh is rated this preseason at as high as #10 to #18 on different projections. Other sources available are Inside Lacrosse and SB Nation College Crosse. With the demise of LaxPower, most of the lacrosse posters have navigated over to the Fan Lax site.

Starting attack returns, but most everything else is new. Give the team time to jell and get ready to win the CAA in April and May.

Duke and Danowski teams always start slow but congrats to High Point its probably the biggest win in that program's history.

Yeah, these mean absolutely nothing lol

In about 3 weeks Duke would beat that team by 10, playing their bench.

Will be interesting to see if the youth for HU can bond and develop quickly enough to make this year an interesting one...

I thought the shot clock was supposed to make for higher-scoring games.

Here's the winning goal, James Philbin to Matt Elder:

Great road win to start the year and very solid start by Bobby Casey with 14 saves. Lehigh was without their top scorer due to suspension, but still to hold the 13th-ranked team to three goals is very impressive. Hopefully offense can show some more life against Utah Saturday.

Great way to start the season with such a young team and on the road. Congrats to Coach Tierney!

First home game tomorrow:

https://gohofstra.com/news/2019/2/14/me ... urday.aspx

The Utes are a brand-new D1 team (and the westernmost, at that), and this is their first away game. They have a veteran coaching staff and a couple of young guns who can sling it, but we should dominate.

Anyone else watching the stream? There's no sound- not even no broadcasters, like no sound at all.

Same on my end. I have the "audio only" broadcast open in a different tab. Of course they don't quite match up though.
