If we can play a big school in CBI at the Mack...that would be great (as opposed to another mid major in the CIT). But even teh CIT is a plus as opposed to not playing.

Dooku25 - what have you heard/read???

No details on hosting or who the opponent is yet. It was Brian Bernardi's dad who tweeted Hofstra is playing in the CBI!

I'm usually not a fan of these tournaments, but I'm glad this team can play again. Hate to have a season end the way it did in Baltimore.

CBI probably means a stronger opponent from a high major...let the speculation begin!

I would imagine if you're getting a home game, you're not getting a "name", since they'd probably be paying for their own home game as well. I would think that would be the second round and beyond.

For what it's worth, the NYC buckets page has us as officially accepting a CBI bid

Any official word from Hofstra or tweets from the website.

I think they have to wait until after the NCAA selection show to formally announce it.

The NIT selection show is on at 8:30. So once that bracket is completed, I think we will see something official from the CBI/CIT tournaments..

I guess Colorado St is this year's '06 Hofstra. They were 27-6 with an RPI of 30, yet somehow teams like UCLA and Ole Miss with a 55 RPI get in..

Also, Northeastern got a raw deal as a 14 against Notre Dame who is playing lights out. Meanwhile Albany, who I think Northeastern is far superior than, also received a 14 seed.

Committee is clueless as usual..

not too bad for CAA. NE in NCAA, W&M in NIT, JMU and UNCW in CIT, and based on above posts, HU in CBI. 5 teams playing in postseason.

Lets do it HU!! Hey Siena won the CBI champ last yr in 3 games over Fresno St - I know it's a low level tourney but a 'chip in something is better than none!

Take advantage of this second chance HU, go out there and PROVE your worth!

Like I said, the first round won't be a pretty name, since anyone worth knowing will put up the cash to host. Second round, maybe, although Vermont isn't a gimme.

Oregon State and Cal both denied CBI bids.

Small note- the CBI will be using a 30 second shot clock.

For anyone who says that a tournament like this isn't important- can someone tell me who won the 2010 CBI, and can you tell me what they did in 2011? Hint- it was a CAA school.

Whoohooo!!! Way to go HU admin, this is AWESOME!! Great move - love the commitment

If they didn't get to play a major name, then this is a fantastic alternative - home game against a former foe!

And let me tell you, this tourney is winnable - HU should go into this guns blazing, eye of the tiger, with a flat out laser focus, a mission not just to win a game, but to win this whole thing

I'll be there Wed, c'mon folks, lets PACK the place out! Got a second chance, what 99% hoped for - let's rock

I will be there. Good move by HU!

Blast from the past - Darren Payen (from last season) transferred to UVM. Per NCAA rules, he is sitting out this year.......wonder if he will make the trip???

We could wind up playing Stony Brook for the CBI championship:

The CBI will be experimenting with a 30 second shot clock, so that'll be interesting.

Looking at the CIT, the "names" there are no better or worse than the CBI.
