Re: Men's Soccer 2025
They're pitiful!! I do give them credit for at least covering H.S. sports that they do but college your name now has to be associated with some guy named Pitino?
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Agreed, they run all that HS drivel with all the kids' names so their parents buy papers.
As for Pitino he must have compromsing pix of the sports editor!

Great win! Now the chance to turn the tables and dream like Vermont did last year.
Cloudy and chilly (36°) but not much wind (9 mph) for the 1 pm kickoff in Burlington on Sunday.
Is there any reason they don't start and end the season a month earlier? Soccer's a tough sport to play in the Northeast in late November.

Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Wags, they start mid-August. Don't think they can start any earlier
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Yeah, I see they started Aug. 21. If they cut two OOC games for everyone, they could play the NCAA tournament in a bit warmer weather in areas like the Northeast and Midwest. Especially, as in Hofstra's case, they played as many OOC games as CAA games in the regular season (eight apiece).
For those wondering, Sep 16: scoreless tie at halftime, Vermont scored in the 69th minute, Hofstra evened it seven minutes later, and the Catamounts scored the game-winner in the 84th minute of a 2-1 win. Shots: 18-5, Vermont. Corners: 7-1, Vermont.

Re: Men's Soccer 2025
They have discussed in past going to an international model which MLS is implementing soon where season goes from August to November and then take a break andreturn in February and championship would be in May. I think that would definitely give sport more eyes as when championship is held now in December is often forgotten due to NFL season and holiday season.Wags wrote: ↑Fri Nov 21, 2025 4:52 pm Great win! Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Reminder: Today's big match starts at 1 pm.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
They made an announcement that they are doing big changes including that. Another change is that conference would be separate from all other sports, and there could be promotion and relegation between conferences.HofstraPride1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 22, 2025 7:45 am They have discussed in past going to an international model which MLS is implementing soon where season goes from August to November and then take a break andreturn in February and championship would be in May. https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/ ... 020c15f320 has video if you pay for ESPN Plus. Snow is falling diagonally.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
It's snowing in Burlington!
EDIT: I have no sound on ESPN+. Anyone else?

The payback attempt for last year is off to a rough start.
1-0, Vermont late in the first half on a goal 12:37 in.

Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Hofstra just tied it at 1-1 in the 65th minute.
EDIT: And took the lead two minutes later!

Re: Men's Soccer 2025
UVM just tied it on a corner kick + header. Score is now 2-2. About 5 minutes to go in regulation.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Just saw that. Not watching, wish I could, following stats. So deflating. I would sign up for PKs and take our chances at this point. Sounds like a great match.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Match in now in extra time -- two 10-minute periods.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Wow -- Hofstra stuns #1 UVM on a sudden-death goal by Laurie Goddard, assisted by Daniel Burko! We win 3-2.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
Great win, cool that all these games lately have been on ESPN+, other than volleyball
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
UVM won the tournament last year and had been undefeated over the team's last 30 games.
Re: Men's Soccer 2025
What a win! Payback and a statement win at that.
Would be awesome to go on a run. ESPN+ coverage was good - will they continue to televise the games?
