We went from down 11 to up 10 in under ten minutes. Our lead peaked at 14, got down to 4, and we won 83-77. We won the second half 49-36.

Would love to know what Speedy said in that timeout early in the 2nd half down 11... might have saved their season.

Obviously cant say enough about Edmead, has all the intangibles to be the #1 that Cruz has never shown consistently. Victory and Biggie great 2nd halves, esp late on the boards. Hofstra might have choked it away without their rebounding.

The bench stinks yet again, they still dont know how to close out the final 4 mins with a lead, and the sooner they can get Victory up to a 30/10 split over Sunday the better. AND MAKE YOUR DAMN FTs!

But huge half. Edmead, Victory and Biggie certainly give you some hope that not all is lost

https://dxbhsrqyrr690.cloudfront.net/si ... 723592.pdf has the box score and play-by-play. The bench played 37 minutes. Davis played the whole game. We had the top three scorers. Edmead scored 23, Davis scored 18, and Patterson scored 17. Edmead made 4 threes. He and Davis tied with 5 assists. Onuetu had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and free throws with 17 seconds left gave him enough points. Plotnikov scored 10. We had five double-digit scorers for the third consecutive game.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7iAjDxmNqg is highlights.

Edit: The CAA went 4-0 today to improve to 12-18 (.400) against Division I.

Quote (Dutch Pride 86); The bench stinks yet again, they still dont know how to close out the final 4 mins with a lead, and the sooner they can get Victory up to a 30/10 split over Sunday the better. AND MAKE YOUR DAMN FTs!

Thought this the entire 1st half. The marked difference between Victory and Sunday is so huge that if we can keep Onuetu out of foul trouble Sunday shouldn't see many minutes. I cringe when he's on the floor. He constantly gets burned guarding(NOT) his man outside the three point line. He gets rebounds under the basket and is inept at scoring down low. Always has to pass it out. DeCady another big disappointment. There's a big dropoff with both Sunday and Decady on the floor at the same time. Although the bench is thin Wills has been giving us good minutes. He doesn't score much but handles the rock without turnovers.
It still remains to be seen the status of Boyd 111(injured)? Also Brandon Morgan who I don't think has gotten a minute? Reaves looks like he has a football body but hasn't scored a point yet even though he has taken shots.

As a team we need to shoot far better from the FT line or sooner or later it will determine the outcome of a game. It's a BIG PLUS that Biggie looks like a very good FT shooter! Cruz needs to spend time in the gym.
I'll take this win even though we really only played a good 20.

Good win, but not great. Bucknell isn’t anything special. First half wasn’t great, but we have Edmead and that dude is a straight up baller. Hes our #1 and he’s going to have to put the team on his back.

I’m really disappointed in Cruz by the way…

Saving the season in game four is a bit dramatic! And we did NOT choke it away...this team will be fine, we have all the elements to win and be a contender in the CAA.

https://gohofstra.com/news/2025/11/15/m ... knell.aspx is our recap titled "Edmead Erupts for 23 as Pride Powers Past Bucknell."

Edmead leads the CAA in assists per game.

A few thoughts:

Our OOC schedule is a tuneup for league play.

Cruz kept us in the UCF game.

Biggie reminds me of D-Stone.

The team needs time to gel.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Well, said JoJo
The season is only four games old. We're gonna have some good games and we'll have some stinkers.
Like you said it takes time for this team to jell
Things I would like to see change a little bit
Keep the turnovers down under 10 per game
Let's work the clock
a little bit more to get a better shot
Definitely need to work on a free throw shooting
Would like to see the team overall above 75%
I don't think that's asking too much
Also, our defense needs to tighten up a little bit
We need to defend better from outside the arc
Victory needs to stay out of foul trouble that will come in time

Lol fair saving the season probably more than a little hyperbolic ill concede that.

But last 8 minutes of that game Hofstra made all of 2 FGs, and didnt make a single FG last 4 mins, while only shooting 5-8 from the line. Closing games with leads was a major issue last season, so when I see that immediately happening again its a major red flag for me.

Now do I think this will turn out to be a better team than last yr? Absolutely. But getting embarrassed by Iona and struggling to beat Bucknell isn't exactly what Id call being a contender in the CAA.

Go upset Temple and then sweep the 3 games at the Palestra, then imo we can start believing this team might have something. The gap between being better than last yr and contending for the CAA title is the size of the grand canyon

Edmead is really impressive. Already the best player on the team. Made a few freshman mistakes (frustration foul 80 feet from the basket at the end of the half, complained to ref mid-play, lost sight of a guy and turned ball over under his own basket) and needs to stay on his feet a little better but he's a hell of a playmaker and takes and makes big shots. With him and Onyetu I'm not sure they've had a more talented pg/big combo, ever. Certainly not one that they recruited in the same year. Edmead will be in the running for conference POY as a freshman. Would love to see those guys grow together for another year but the elephant in the room is can we keep them here in this day and age.

Buie is one of my all time favorites that played here but he didn't score like this until his senior year. Granted he was playing with Justin before then.

Agree Dutchpride. We are still in the CAA and we should’ve been able to run all over Iona. Let’s not kid ourselves here. Like I said too, bucknell isn’t anything special. We should be able to beat a bucknell team by 20 so I’m not buying it.

Let’s beat Temple and snag a game from Pitt or Syracuse. Then we may have a reason to believe. Let’s be realistic here. We really should be able to beat a UCF team too. Edmead is a baller though. We will have to ride with him and give him the shots. Cruz isn’t doing it for me
