Re: 2025-26 MBB
So we asked for bigs and apparently we picked up another big Alex Tsynkevich a graduate student listed at 6'10 245. Played a few years juco ball averaging 10 points a game as a freshman and 7 points a s a sophomore. Then played a year at Alcorn State only getting 6 minutes and a year at Kentucky Wesleyan a D2 school getting 4 minutes a game. A big body that could give us size in the post and burn minutes between Victory and Sunday. From Minsk Belarus hometown of German Plotnikov and same prep school Spring Creek Academy.Too much of a coincidence German must of had a hand in us signing this kid. A good get off the bench. It appears that we used our last scholly on this kid unless he's a walk on.

I saw a new face in some photos on Facebook. Thought he might be a walk-on, but this is even better. Suddenly, we have some depth up front:

EDIT: Here are some YouTube highlights. Alex moves well under the basket:

Also, I see that Jaeden Roberts is on the roster. Here's an interesting tidbit from his bio:
"[Jaeden's] Father, Roger, was a member of the Hofstra men’s basketball team and a teammate of current Head Coach Speedy Claxton."

I remember we had a player from South Boston on our roster for a short time early in Jay Wright's tenure, but I don't recall his name. He may have been here for only a semester, not sure. Nevertheless, I'm glad to have his son on our team.

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Can't recall us ever having this much depth at C. Good to have an option when the regulars get into foul trouble.
So do we think that DeCady and Patterson will split time at the 4, while the three bigs take up the 5?
It would be nice if Patterson could play some time at the 3 (assuming his shooting ability pans out). That would really give us size on the court that we have never had.

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Have to hand it to Speedy….good recruiting job has potentially turned us into a very competive team in the league. Quality guards, depth up front. Starters? Victory and Patterson up front, with Rogers at point, along with PLOTNIKOV and Cruz Davis

Re: 2025-26 MBB
There was some chatter that they were only going to use 13 scholarships, happy to see they are using all 15 and added some size to the roster, with a few intriguing guys. Looking forward to the season.
Re: 2025-26 MBB
If everybody can play we could field 2 teams .Lots of unknowns but we might be able to press the hell out of teams if the bench has talent.
If the rotations are typically Hofstra-short then I fear a lot of turnover going forward. However this may just be the new landscape of rosters around the country.

Re: 2025-26 MBB
I think this team is 13 deep with guys who can contribute positive minutes. See Reaves and Morgan warming the bench. Redshirt Edmeads?

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Believe me Edmead will not be redshirted could possibly be the STARTING PG. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT all these guards that they have and I think we can agree they aren't coming here with strong pedigrees but Preston has a high ceiling and will be a better player IMO then Carlos. Now it may be that the kid Roberts will see some action as well but can't see Preston being redshirted.
Re: 2025-26 MBB
Agree 100% with triplec. I believe both Preston and Jaeden will play this year. I see Preston as more of a PG than Jaeden, who I see as more of a combo guard. Cruz Davis may start off running the point, but both of our freshman will get their chance. They both played at a high level before coming here.triplec2195 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 8:08 pmBelieve me Edmead will not be redshirted could possibly be the STARTING PG. Alex looks like he can be a serviceable back up up front....getting more excited about this teams after the late additions!

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Worth a look! https://x.com/HofstraMBB The three minute video of the Mack etc.
Re: 2025-26 MBB
Why does the men's locker room have nice chairs for each player, while the women's have backless stools???triplec2195 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 8:08 am Worth a look! https://x.com/HofstraMBB The three minute video of the Mack etc.
Re: 2025-26 MBB
I have asked this before without a response. Are there any out of conference home games? From the schedule there appears to be only 9 home games at the Mack all year? Over two thirds of the games will be on the road? Is this right?
Re: 2025-26 MBB
Although I don't know why these are not on the schedule, but Quinnipiac is coming to the Mack Sunday Dec 21, and I believe D-II Molloy is visiting Monday Nov 10.
Re: 2025-26 MBB
Thanks. 10 homes games out of the 30 usually played? Geez. Not counting Molloy or the usually D2 or D3 games.

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Just looked at last years schedule 13 home games which included two non D1 teams and one of those games was the class at the court game during the day which for me means 11 games. Also they played Seton Hall at the Coliseum. This is very similar to last year just a shame there isn't more home OOC games!
Re: 2025-26 MBB
Jay Wright left before 2003-2004, and the 2003-2004 Media Guide's list of all players ever does not have anybody with the last name Roberts.Jojogunne wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 9:59 pm Also, I see that Jaeden Roberts is on the roster. Here's an interesting tidbit from his bio:

Re: 2025-26 MBB
Just saw the announcement that HU will open the season at Central Florida. UCF is a member of the Big XII Conference. This just about fills out the schedule because we are aware of the last three games against Iona on November 7th, Molloy on November 10th' and Quinnipiac on December 21st that have not been announced. I'm not sure why the Molloy game is not listed on the schedule when there is a large banner on the top of the page announcing the "Class at the Court" game. Also, the Iona and Quinnipiac games are listed on their 2025-26 schedules. The HU schedule now has only one home game in November (Molloy) and two at the end of December (Quinnipiac and Campbell). Seems like many buy games (UCF, Pitt, & Syracuse). Looks like Coach Speedy is not afraid of any road games at power conference colleges.
