Website also does not show our new assistant coach, Drew Metz.

Technically we now have 15 scholarships to offer per new changes in NCAA rules but I heard the school is only going to allow the 13. Anybody hear anything re this.

Even though it is July, there are still dozens og bigs in the transfer portal and we have scholarships to offer. My guess is that we are waiting out some of these kids to see what they can get re: NIL money...its kind of like musical chairs...when the music stops who will be left?
I took a look at the Transfer Portal via Verbal Commits and I only ogt about halfway through but here are some kids Hofstra should/could be looking at:

Enoch Boa Kye, 6-10 Villanova, averaged 4.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg last year
Eddie Lampkin, 6-11 Syracuse, 11.4 ppg, 9.6 rpg
Mac Etienne, LaSalle, 5.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, from NYC
Taris Ingraham, Rider, 6-9, 255
Dom Campbell, 6-8, 255, Howard, 6.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg
Favour Aire, 6-10, 212, Bryant
Elijah Gray, 6-8, 220, Temple, 9.0 ppg 3.8 rpg

Surely one of these kids could fit the bill for us and there are many more out there!

I'll ask AGAIN do we have 13 or 15 scholarships. I had heard that the powers that be are not going to let us use the extra two?? Soft $$ IMO!

Do we need 15 players? We usually only play seven or eight.

Giving 15 schollys instead of 13 is not going to change Hofstra bottom line

Wasn't sure which thread this belonged in and this seemed the closest...

But in case anyone didn't see the news yesterday, they very thankfully moved the start of the portal window until the day after the national championship game, to eliminate the ridiculousness we saw before, especially during March Madness last year (even though we know they'll talk behind the scenes before the window starts). The official window will be shortened to 15 days.

Also, a coaching change rule: players will get 15 days to enter the portal after a new coach is hired, but if no new coach is named within 30 days, a 15-day window will open on the 31st day.

So, we won't have to worry about Davis and Edmead going elsewhere while they're still playing in the Final Four this year (we can dream!). :D

At least the final four in the CAA semi finals. It's a start.

Long overdue this rule. How can you have players transferring while the tournament is still being played.

Hopefully they start putting CAPS on this NIL money. Football quarterbacks are getting paid upwards of $6 million per year to stay in college...NUTS!

At some point Congress will have to engage. The current powers that be aren't going to change anything folks, especially with NIL - that should be obvious by now - too much money and greed. Zero interest in what's best for the universities or the sport.

It's clearly not sustainable for the vast majority, but the leaders aren't doing anything to stop it. They're feeding it.

In some ways, the transfer portal and NIL have in fact helped to break the stronghold by the same programs every year - others are able to 'play the game' now that never had a chance before. Even mids like us have actually benefited in part.

But obviously with no rules at all that benefit is being negated by complete insanity. Pretty wild to see an Indiana spoiled in riches while an Alabama is struggling to compete financially - that is some crazy stuff!! It won't last, but just like before, the new powers that be will be in no rush to ensure others have a piece of their newfound pie. It will take a larger body to force boundaries. Eventually lol.

I'd say we have 2-3 years of this before the next drastic shift. We'll see if it's for better or worse.

We can't assume that those who win have the most NIL and that those who used to be on top don't have a lot of NIL if they're no longer quite as good.

According to these NIL scores, Alabama ranked 3rd, Indiana 53rd (assuming you were talking football, not men's college hoops).

Or, looking at just the NIL averages, Alabama was at $217K (5th, behind Michigan, Oregon, Texas, and Ohio State), Indiana about 1/10 of that, at $23K.
