Like that Stu who started the rumor? You!!
Re: Rumor Mill
Wright has been mentioned but I doubt he would give up his current lifestyle for tht job, unless of course, they break the bank to get him.
Re: Rumor Mill
Go get Pitino so all the St Johns recruits leave
Re: Rumor Mill
I asked him about the NBA after Villanova beat Hofstra at the Coliseum back in 2017. It was more likely he'd make a move then and he didn't want to then. He said it would have to "be the perfect job" and even then he wasn't so sure (and he had the opportunities and NBA people reaching out to him).
This has come up SO many times since then, and what people have always failed to understand in the eight years since then is that they want Wright to coach in the NBA a lot more than Wright himself wants to coach in the NBA.

The only difference is that he wouldn't possibly be missing coaching back then.Wags wrote:I asked him about the NBA after Villanova beat Hofstra at the Coliseum back in 2017. Jays kids are grown now
They are 28 27 and 22
So now may the time for him to get back into coaching

Re: Rumor Mill
Never say never but again, what other people want for Jay Wright with a return to coaching isn't (it seems) what Jay Wright wants.
And Jay Wright, not everyone else, still gets to make that decision about his own life.
What Seth Davis said three days ago is very consistent with what Wright said said eight years ago:

This is a surprise. If this is correct, Stuball 888, who do you think Cole and HU should consider? Aren't there a few HU softball grads presently coaching in college that might be interested in the position? I hope AD Cole consults former Coach Edwards.

Re: Rumor Mill
Problem was the budget
You can look it up but last year we only had one assistant coach
From what I understand when Adrian asked for more money to hire a second assistant coach, she was told there was no money in the budget for a second assistant
If you take a look, every other school in the CAA had two assist coaches in softball, and even Hampton had three assisting coaches

So instead of NIL money, we have nil money.

Wow-this is really sad. Former alum and our softball program has been very good and they won’t even support that with an additional assistant coach. As mentioned, even every other CAA school has more assistants including Hampton.
Why is Hofstra being like this. It’s obvious that they don’t want to support athletics. They should honestly just get rid of sports if this is how they feel. Don’t half ass tjis stuff. Either go all in or don’t waste time.

Re: Rumor Mill
Don't think its a rumor. Visited website and Nikki Amodeo is listed as Interim Head Coach and no one else is listed.

STU/Husid/Wags-I feel like you each have more intel than anyone on these boards. Any idea what’s going on???
Re: Rumor Mill
I hate to say it, but all of this (resignations, thin staffing, difficulty recruiting) may be foreshadowing a large scale downshift in the program?
