Congrats to Tyler Thomas and Darlingstone Dubar
Tyler Thomas was just named the Haggerty Award winner which is the Met Area's highest honer for a college basketball player. He was also named to the first team.
DStone was named to the all-Met second team.
Congratulations to both players...we will miss you both!
Note...Aaron Estrada won last year's Haggerty giving us two winners in a row!

Good to see Tyler getting this opportunity!

Dubar picked the right school to transfer to. Tennessee (8-0) is #1 in this week's AP poll. But D-Stone has played in only 4 games and for average of about 10 minutes:

D-Stone faced his former teammate, Jaquan Carlos, last Tuesday (12/3) when the Volunteers hosted the Syracuse Orange. Tennessee won, 96-70. D-Stone played just 7 minutes while Jaquan started and played 37 minutes. Neither scored very much:

Tomorrow he'll be at MSG vs. Miami.

Re: Congrats to Tyler Thomas and Darlingstone Dubar
The grass isn't always greener but Carlos is starting playing 35 minutes. He isn't scoring shooting well not even from the FT line 45% but he's steady and handles the rock. I would imagine that's what keeps him in the starting rotation along with injuries to their guards.
Re: Congrats to Tyler Thomas and Darlingstone Dubar
Really fun/interesting to see all the CAA talent at top programs this year. I watched TN/Syracuse and agree with all around the tradeoff between Dstone and Jaquan Carlos... Honestly surprised that Carlos still has the role, as his complete lack of a confident outside shot makes him pretty useless on offense. It was also a nice reminder that Jyare Davis is also on Syracuse, formerly of UDel, also taking a smaller role.
Turned on Kentucky/Gonzaga game a few nights ago to see Amari Williams (fmr Drexel) and Andrew Carr (also fmr UDEL) in the same backcourt, both starting and majorly contributing.
Turned on AZ/WVU last week and saw Anthony Dell'Orso from Campbell come off the bench.
I'm sure there a many more I haven't randomly run into-- it's both a great look for the talent that the CAA develops, and also a bit depressing that we're one of the best at losing that talent to the big boys.

Jahmyl Telfort from Northeastern is the 7th leading scorer in the Big East averaging 16.3ppg at Butler
Re: Congrats to Tyler Thomas and Darlingstone Dubar
Trazarien White probably would have been preseason CAA player of the year this year.
He plays at TCU and is averaging 27 minutes a game and 10 points p/g.
Started the season slow but is playing a lot more now.

Yet all people did for years was bash the CAA for the supposed "bad league it was" with "a lack of talent." Only now do people see it after what was lost and how those players are contributing at bigger programs.HU87 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 3:28 pm Really fun/interesting to see all the CAA talent at top programs this year. He leads Syracuse with 4.7 apg, including 12 last night and 19 over his past two games. He, of course, set a CAA record with his 19-assist game last year. His game isn't an outside shot, it's setting others up.
