Re: MBB - Depth and Playing Time
My bad on that, I read the bylaw and it looked like you can apply to play immediately from D2/3 to D1, but you would not be eligible for scholarship the first year, but it does not apply to D-1 Men's hoops, football and hockey.HUSID80 wrote:Sabety could not have played this year. He transferred to a Div One program thus he must sit a year. Had he gone from Div One to Two or Three he could play right away.
Regardless, I like that we have three redshirts waiting in the wings for next year. They'll definitely be some drop-off, but Powers and Robinson are experienced players. I think Sabety has an interesting game, some of those post moves in that posted highlight reel probably won't work at the D-1 level, but it looks like he moves well in transition and has good defensive instinct, which we need.

Would be great if someone could go to practice today and file a report

Re: MBB - Depth and Playing Time
I cant see burning JR at this point - if we were ever going to do it it should have been done when ID decided to stay home across the pond. Plus I am not sure he fits the roll any better then giving more minutes to DB, JFW and AW.
If DB, JFW and AW all pick up another 4 minutes a game and the starting 5 add another minute we have covered MN minutes - it sucks MN was the only player that you view as a defensive player ahead of his offense.
Its doable - we have our work cut out for us - Go HU Beat Elon!!!

Re: MBB - Depth and Playing Time
Not giving more minutes to AW and JWF to pick up some of the MN minutes would be a big mistake. If JAM is expecting the starters to make up the difference then he is playing Russian roulette with their health and the rest of the season. They simply cannot increase the load on those 5 guys without increasing the chance for another injury. What would happen if JG, RG, or DK goes down for even a few weeks. OF course it would be devastating if JG was lost, but without MN around who is the back up for RG or DK??
Some of you may say I'm being extreme, but how many teams get through an entire season without a starter going down for a little while or playing at a lower level because of a lingering injury? It does not happen often. Its just a numbers game, not a question of "if" more a question of "when". Any injury to the three guys mentioned and we are in deep do-do!
