MBB recruits 2016
Re: MBB recruits 2016
From your mouth to God's ears!
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Don't think they need a 6'8 PF in this class, will have Gustys and Sabety next yr, that fills that need well
Do think they need to bring in:
- Another 6'10 guy, whether they have Walker or not
- A W/G around 6'5 like DV
- 2 W/F's in the 6'7 mold
That right there would be a fantastic class IMO

Re: MBB recruits 2016
just a note that on the "Verbal Commits" site, Elijah Pemberton has been re-rated and now is posted as a 3 Star recruit. Of course JAM and all of us new that already.
Also, Chuba Ohams has been re-rated and is also a 3 star recruit.
Funny how those 2 guys comprised my guard/wing wish list posted about a month ago.

Rumor mill has it a 6ft9 Lithuanian recruit Has Hofstra on his radar. Dont know if he is a 2016 or 2017 recruit.
Re: MBB recruits 2016
NICE! Is this a Rokas connection?? Lots of talent in Lithuania and there is some history with HU.
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Now Stu you KNOW you can't just drop little crumbs like that with no meat behind it!!! That's an exciting scoop, I've tried to do some digging, but need more my friend! Give me something else to go on here!
Is he in the states? HS or Prep/Juco? Location/State? Talent level (stars, comparison, etc)??

Re: MBB recruits 2016
Will know more in the spring. Not sure if he is coming to the states or will stay in Europe. a Hint is his uncle is head of the Lithuaniun basketball association and he played in the NBA.
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Polito, Stu gave you some hints...now lets see what you can do with them? LOL
Re: MBB recruits 2016
lol this is a tough one, my sleuthing skills are weakened overseas!
Mr Sabonis, the previous NBA star for the Blazers is the great who runs the Lithuanian basketball federation - one of his sons is of the same talent mold, and is currently playing at Gonzaga
Finding a nephew of his who is not yet in the states, no luck so far! Any thoughts gary?

Bingo he is a long shot to come to the states. he is a project who just started playing basketball at 15. I understand he wants to become a doctor. Hence Hofstra could be a good fit for him. He is 16 now. probably class of 2017.
Re: MBB recruits 2016
would really love to know what they have working for the 6'7ish WF guys... that is a huge area of need for this class

Redshirt freshman at Odessa College (JUCO). Not sure if he's a 2016 or '17 recruit, since he'll have been there for 2 years at the end of the academic year. NYC kid, so I assume Speedy is recruiting him.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
Nice stats per 40 minutes (28 points/ 7 rebounds/ 4 assists/ 3 steals/3 fouls)...photo looks like he has size
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Dimencio Vaughn is off the table - committed to Rider. Not very impressive.
Re: MBB recruits 2016
I think Hofstra is in a position where they must use all 4 of remaining scholarships [5 if Walker does not come back] to build some depth for the program...
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Was just coming to post that Cards...
I have to say, that is one of the strangest commits so far I've seen for '16 - makes even less sense than EP and W&M - this kid is a pretty solid talent - God bless him and Rider, if he actually sticks with that he should do very well in that conf
Really surprising with places like HU and URI in hot pursuit - to each his own, but I will be curious to see if this sticks his whole career...
As for the Elijah Davis young man, interesting recruit - he's talented, NYC guy likely looking to get back to the area, good size and skill set, could fill a nice WF need here, and can def play with the bigger guards of the CAA - played with and against some super competition at Lincoln, and himself performed very well - 3 * top 20 nyc player - Odessa is a pretty good Juco, and he's doing well there - can score in a variety of ways (3, jumper, drives strong to the hoop), but is also a very strong rebounder so I'm hopeful his D is equally on point
There is NO QUESTION this staff needs to use all ships - don't want to hear anything about class balance right now - if this staff really expects to win and get to the dance at some point in the near future, they need to get some damn depth immediately - enough is enough already with this nonsense. Sick of it. They need to fix it asap, and that means with the '16 class, period.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
Polito...sent JAM email about the importance of using all the schollies...mentioned we may have 5 to use if Walker does not return...your turn....LOL
Re: MBB recruits 2016
lol yep, the pressure is on me - I'm just trying to get my cool head thoughts together before doing so... I have plenty to say, but I want to maintain professional respect in my delivery
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Word is there may be a BE big in our future......
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Would that be Mr. Buie's buddy? Stuball was talking about this last night at the game. That would be HUGE.
