That rule regarding a coach leaving was discussed last year but not yet implemented. Knight can play immediately next year, but I expect him to go to a bigger name program.Jojogunne wrote:I think a player can transfer immediately if the coach leaves. Also, Knight would be a graduate student, right? That restriction wouldn't apply.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but we have been talking about transfers here...
Northeastern’s Donnell Gresham is transferring, source told @Stadium.
Even Coen lost one

Just saw this on Twitter. Shocked. The W&M transfers are obvious, some others, at UNCW, Elon, etc. are understandable, but this is very surprising. Wonder why. Big loss for NU.Pride97 wrote:Not sure if this is the right thread, but we have been talking about transfers here...

Hofstra is winning this CAA offseason by default so far, merely by staying intact among those who were supposed to return.

Bio says class of 2019. Doing a PG year somewhere else?

Let's hope so but who are we getting in the fold to get us over the HUMP this year. We clearly need a replacement for Justin and that's just for starters!!
Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
Justin's replacement will be Ray IMO. We will need a PG, hopefully Burgess, a young 2 guard or transfer, and at least a backup 4/5 and another 3.triplec2195 wrote:Let's hope so but who are we getting in the fold to get us over the HUMP this year. We now have four scholarships to play with after signing Cramer and losing Radovic

Sean Occeus too. Is something going at Northeastern? Very strange.Wags wrote:Just saw this on Twitter. Shocked. Found out that the CAA has no restrictions on transfers, except for the normal one year as required by the NCAA.
Let the floodgates open!

Then what's the reason we have never seen anyone transfer within conference before. Is it highly discouraged??HUSID74 wrote:Found out that the CAA has no restrictions on transfers, except for the normal one year as required by the NCAA.

Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
How many scholarships do you get? Do players having redshirt seasons count? Including Hughes and Kante who didn't play, our roster had 14 players, and I think everyone other than Klementowicz had a scholarship. If we were at the limit, Cramer for Radovic is an exchange, and 4 scholarships to replace 4 graduates is an exchange.HUSID74 wrote: We now have four scholarships to play with after signing Cramer and losing Radovic
Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
Yup, we have four more to give....total of 13 in program at any time.

Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
Does anyone think we would try to recruit Jeantal Cylla who is a 6'7" Grad student from UNCW. He averaged over 13 points a game. Again a one year rental it would be interesting to see if anyone of these kids would transfer to another CAA team? Lots of grad students eligible out there and underclassmen who r eligible right away. I see two from U Mass. Tre Wood who someone mentioned here and also Unique Mclean who would be a sophomore a 6'2" shooting guard who's from Brooklyn? There r plenty of others I know we are waiting for H.S. kids to make their commitments either way but plenty of options!HUSID74 wrote:Found out that the CAA has no restrictions on transfers, except for the normal one year as required by the NCAA.

We're in with several transfers I hear.
Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
Do you know if they would have to sit out or would they be eligible immediately ??

Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
IDK if we r looking at JUCO transfers or are we looking at 4 year school transfers grad students or both. There are kids that can play right away on the transfer list and as I've said before some are not grad students. There r kids that have red-shirted and can play immediately.
Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
First great news just hit with Omar, and I think more is on the way in the next couple of weeks.
There are def a couple of CAA transfers I'd take if the rules are as lax as we hear.
That said, I am also really surprised at the NU transfers. It's a yearly exodus of top talent in this league - that's how bad this league has become, and of course, said talent leaving continues the cycle. Top kids don't want to play in the CAA anymore, it's a shame. And the Commissioner appears to be just enjoying his paycheck instead of securing proper TV contracts, garnering more national media attention, and lobbying everywhere possible for the betterment of the league.
I've said before one of the biggest positives of this staff and the HU program is our top talent STAYS. HU routinely rolls out old and experienced lineups - that part is something I love about JM's teams - they've got that piece down pat.
HU and we fans are very fortunate - nearly every CAA school has lost their top talent to transfer over the last several years, except HU.
Come on Riller, make your move and make this league wide open!!

This is an issue across the board for mid majors. The new portal is list a shopping center for the P5 schools to shop for waht they need at the expense of the Mids.Polito wrote:First great news just hit with Omar, and I think more is on the way in the next couple of weeks.

Anythin to keep the P5 in the fold...
Re: Tony Shaver Out at W&M
Cylla was like Trueheart with more playing time. Cylla shot threes and free throws better than Trueheart, but Trueheart shot twos better and his other statistics were better. If you do them on a per minute basis, Trueheart was better at rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, and fewer turnovers, while Cylla was better at having fewer fouls. Cylla shot twos .475 and threes .311 for a field goal percentage of .427. Even if Cylla would help a little, giving freshmen forwards experience in 2019-2020 could be better for 2020-2021.triplec2195 wrote:Does anyone think we would try to recruit Jeantal Cylla who is a 6'7" Grad student from UNCW.
