Re: Media Thread
Actually I was more concerned about DU than anyone else in the caa. They seem pretty dinged up now.
Re: Media Thread
jAM said that when our guys play hard we are very good. It will be up to the staff to put the right guys on the floor and for them to take care of business. The talent is there, time will come real soon to prove it.
Re: Media Thread
WB Mason Coaches interview. As before, the accolades for Gustys keep coming. Even JAM said he is surprised how well Rokus is playing - not like a freshman.

High basketball IQ. I think he will be something special before he leaves.
Re: Media Thread
Also nice to hear some praise for Jamal Robinson, a guy who came in relatively 'unheralded' (decent in hs on a very good team, but not a lot of hype around him) had a very strong freshman year, and has the ability to be a big factor if he continues to progress
I like his potential if he continues the hard work yr 2

Re: Media Thread
Lots of media stories over the past two days.
Story from Newsday on the men's basketball team, primarily about Juan'ya Green: http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/h ... um=twitter
Story from City of Basketball Love on Hofstra's philly trio of Mihalich, Green, and Taksley: http://cityofbasketballlove.com/2014/11 ... t-hofstra/
Northeastern Radio's preview of the Pride: http://www.wrbbsports.com/2014/caa-prev ... a-pride-3/
Double G Sports story on the new season: http://doublegsports.com/hofstra-mens-b ... rt-season/
Article on GoHofstra about our depth at the guard position, other positions will previewed throughout the week: http://www.gohofstra.com/news/2014/11/7 ... 43323.aspx#
Newsday article on the women's team, focusing on Krystal Luciano: http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/h ... um=twitter
CAA Coverage of both teams (3 videos total, 1 on both teams and 1 with each coach, plus a short rundown on each)
Men: http://caamenshoops.wordpress.com/2014/ ... s-hofstra/
Women: http://caawomenshoops.wordpress.com/201 ... s-hofstra/
also side note in regards to the women's team, I'm pretty sure West Virginia transfer Darius Faulk received a waver to play immediately here this season. That's huge for the team, adds another 4 star player, and I'm pretty sure she was top 100 for her year.

Re: Media Thread
Has anybody found the 2014-2015 CAA Men's Basketball Media Guide?

Great links POP, thanks
Re: Media Thread
Thank you. That has some of what the Media Guide normally has, but the Media Guide also normally has the CAA standings and player awards from each season and the game, season, and career statistics records. For example, in 2010-2011 (Jenkins' senior season), Hofstra broke the CAA record with a .761 free throw percentage.ProudofPride wrote:it might be this. http://www.caasports.com/documents/2014 ... _18-35.pdfEvanJ wrote: Has anybody found the 2014-2015 CAA Men's Basketball Media Guide?

A couple features on the basketball teams in the Chronicle this week. There's an interview with Speedy, a profile on Ameen Tanksley, and a preview of the women's basketball team. It can be read online here: http://issuu.com/hofstrachronicle/docs/11_11_2014 Pages A-14 and A-15 which are 17 and 18 on the website.
Hofstra is receiving votes in the first Mid Major Top 25 poll, as are several other CAA teams. http://www.collegeinsider.com/mens-mid-major-top-25.php
The game vs Stony Brook is a pass the pride game. There is a Facebook event for it (https://www.facebook.com/events/884718424879165), and on the event, video features on the men's players are being posted. So far there are videos of Rokas Gustys and Jamall Robinson.

Robinson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryKyhgW ... e=youtu.be

13 of the 22 eligible conferences have a team ranked, and the CAA doesn't have any.ProudofPride wrote: Hofstra is receiving votes in the first Mid Major Top 25 poll, as are several other CAA teams. http://www.collegeinsider.com/mens-mid-major-top-25.php

Re: Media Thread
Evan remember it is a preseason poll. The one that matters is the one at the end of the year.
Re: Media Thread
And let's remember this is truthfully a very down yr in general for the CAA - but give it time, there are 2-3 CAA teams will be in the top 15 of the mid major top 25...1-2 could be in the top 10

NY Post gave us a B+ in the early signing period. Also gave Fordham a big fat C.
