Selection Sunday viewing party

Post by stuball888 »

I just left the voicemail with Rick Cole
I suggested holding an event on campus
Maybe some of us can also send him emails or call him encouraging him to make this happen

I sent messages on X, IG, facebook everywhere I could find to the Hof MBB pages. They're having something at the Mack today which is a waste of time, no one can make it and the show is Sunday. Even the smallest of schools have viewing parties so hopefully we get one.

I just heard Speedy on The Michael Kay show say they're unsure of where they're going to watch the selection show. He pointed out in 2000 they watched at Hofstra USA. My suggestion would be the Mack Sports Complex but sounds like they're discussing.

It would be absolutely foolish of the University to not set up cameras. To be on CBS and have the reactions shown all over socials for FREE would be huge error to not do something.

Looks like a few people actually showed up for this thing at the Mack today....

Imagine if they all came back for a game next year! At least bodes well for interest in a viewing party

I can't go to anything in New York, but during my summer trip I can look at North Platte Community College in Nebraska where Plotnikov played.

As long as they tighten up the camera angle.

Hope they do something though, would love to attend.

Hofstra's spring break is next week, so there won't be a lot of students around for the selection show Sunday night.

Thanks for sharing this link DP86, I hadn't seen that, and I actually think that is very awesome, and in fact it's exactly what lots of big schools do - having a welcome home celebration is a great thing to do and very marketable content. It's not a replacement for a watch party, but an excellent supplement and this actually gives me hope that HU will do something for that too - I imagine Speedy will want something done as well. This is just too good and too perfect of an opportunity to punt.

And I'm not worried one bit about the student body, there isn't one - those dopey kids don't even know what's going on and have completely ignored their schools teams - frig 'em. They need to actually show up and do something in the future and earn it before they get any decisions made for them. Do it for all of us DIEHARD fans that deserve the chance to celebrate with them.

That's fine, very few students come to games anyway. Would be more for the team and alums, and what happened in 2020 makes it all the more important to have something. Doesn't have to be big, just open the gym and allow the public in like they do for viewing parties of pro sports events. Heck even if they wanted to charge something I'd pay it, at least give us the option.

100% they should provide a donation option and wrap it around a drive to fuel continued success for the program.

Folks, don't write off the student body, and even other fans who may be coming late to the party. If we want Hofstra athetics to grow, attendance and, critically, the donor base have to grow.

How many season-ticket holders do we have? I don't know, but it's not enough. Our goal should be to sell out the Arena the way UNCW and Charleston do. Our crowds should ROAR when Hofstra takes the court.

Let's welcome everyone into our big tent and enjoy this fabulous moment with us. :)

Of course everyone is welcomed, my point was we shouldn't not have a viewing event because it's Spring Break.

I just registered for the viewing party and cannot wait. Huge die-hard Hofstra sports fan- especially basketball and soccer and long-time viewer of this board, though this is my first time posting as I finally joined the board today. Thank you all for the insightful, informative and entertaining posts regarding all Hofstra sports.

Welcome Hofstra97!

Due to a lot of people registering interest, the watch party event is being moved to the mack student center (multipurpose room), address is 200 Hofstra University.
