Maybe 45... or more. Whatever it takes.

It was a bad play to run the clock down and settle for that in a tie game when they only needed 2 or to draw a shooting foul, and the shot only banked in because it was not only offline, but so far off to the right. Hey, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and that was one of them. It will be remembered as a legendary Hofstra Basketball moment because it went in, but it wasn't a good play or a good shot. It's fine though, he deserved it for everything else he did in the game and all season long.
I'm glad you said it. Once we've come down from the emotions of the shot have to be honest with ourselves.... the offensive sets, or lack thereof, inside the final 2 minutes of regulation and OT were all atrocious. I don't know if there's single other coach in the country who would leave an overtime last second conference semifinal with multiple timeouts in their pocket. But we know who Speedy is at this point. Almost blind trust in his guards to make a play, and boy did Edmead ever. An all-time shot we'll never forget.

So we only need one win now hopefully again the third time is a charm but will have to take care of two good guards one we haven't played against yet. GO PRIDE!!
He fouled out with 3:40 left in overtime, which got him more rest than playing 45 minutes. Patterson replaced him.

https://caasports.com/news/2026/3/10/me ... inner.aspx is titled "Edmead Sends Hofstra to CAA Championship Game with Overtime Winner."

Reaves might have the record for shortest playing time other than 0. He defended for 0.3 seconds after Edmead won it. I was surprised that none of him, Roberts, or Wills got real playing time.

Each team had four players attempt at least 4 field goals, and all 8 of them made 40 percent or fewer.

Tejada broke the CAA Tournament record with 94 points. The old record was 91 points by James Madison's Steve Hood in 1990. Tejada made 32 field goals, which was 1 short of Hood's record. He made 23 free throws, which was 2 short of the record shared by Navy's David Robinson in 1986, and Charleston's Joe Chealey in 2018. Justin Wright-Foreman has the game record with 42 on March 11, 2019, which was a Semifinal overtime win over Delaware, and he scored 88 in that Tournament. Davis's most points in a three-game span this season is 79. Charles Jenkins's most points in a three-game span was 98, which included a 40 point game. Those three-game spans are any games, not just Tournaments.

Hard not to agree Wags... I think Speedy has been doing a legitimately great job at the helm so far this tournament, but the two areas that could have killed us:

1. Not having something more drawn up for the end of the shot clock besides "Cruz goes 1-on-1 and shoots somehow" or "Edmead goes 1-on-1 and shoots somehow"

2. Not adjusting to that Tejada/Williamson pick and roll down the stretch fast enough. He eventually put Biggie on Williamson to make sure Tejada didn't switch onto a smaller guard-- it was the right call but around 5 plays too late.

Good observations HU 87 - both WRIGHT on
First play of the game we run a backdoor cut for Plotnikov for an easy layup - where was it for him or anyone else the rest of the game while Edmead and Davis "fiddle and diddle" with the ball ?
As well as Edmead played offensively he got absolutely torched on the other end.
What's with Onuetu ? As pointed out - he's unplayable - he can't make a dunk, and he's fouled everyone but the cheerleaders - and in miraculously short time.
German needs more shots! He's open many times and they just ignore him.
That pick and roll or pop almost killed us - you'd think we'd have a clue how to defend it considering how many times they threw it at us.

Thank you. I have been saying this here for the past three years (which goes to show how he is ignored even when other key personnel has changed over time).

And when Ray hit the 3 to cut a four-point game to one in the title game, guess who cancelled that out :19 later, with just under a minute left in the game, to get it right back to four again (rhymes with Herman).

There's no question that he worked his butt off perfecting that shot this year and also his move into the paint hit the 10 footer. We will miss everything about him including his some time antics on the court.

So is German the ultimate glue guy?
I think his defense is underrated
He also does a lot of the small things that don't show up in the box score

i don't think there is any question. He's a true leader/"coach" on the court as well. Always the first guy to jump up when on the bench. He looked to be leading "defense" chants on the bench during the tourney as well. As good as a Hofstra representative as we have had in recent history. Will be VERY sad to see him go at the end of this run. So happy for him that they punched their ticket during his time here.

Someone outside of Hofstra mentioned to me last night that they could envision German becoming a coach some day.

This ending makes me happy, thinking back to the Senior Night win against Drexel a week ago, when German, reflecting on it being his final home game said, "Let's get a chip," to which Biggie responded, "Let's end it right."
