2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Oh it’s happening. Wilmington is going to lose. Let’s just hope our boys are ready to play and go dominate. Three games of domination. LFG!!!
Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Holy smokes, could we get this lucky?? I would be thrilled to be off on this one, really couldn't envision the W struggling vs Campbell - not over yet but this is a shocker to me...

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
I didnt think UNCW would lose, but like I said earlier Campbell led for over 65% of both games these teams played, UNCW just closed late. This isnt as shocking as it appears. Pbdutch hope you did get some money off this!
All about how these teams match up with each other, which is what terrifies me about W&M.
I think Monmouth will go up 20 in 1st half vs Drexel and hold on for a double digit win. Monmouth will be playing Tues night. Kavion McClain made them as good as anyone in the league.
Towson will be up for over 50% of game vs Charleston but Charleston will pull it out late.
Our game I really don't know... win going away, first double digit loss of the year, someone makes a half court buzzer beater. I think every outcome is in play (unfortunately for our collective blood pressures)
Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
I learned to not bet because you always lose, but I was hopeful and had confidence Campbell could’ve beaten them. Here’s another example of a guy that knows how to coach. Campbell is a very well coached team…
I agree with you Dutchpride on William and Mary. We have been burned so many times where we are clear favorites and end up losing. William and Mary isn’t a great match up for us. However, this is what year 5 for speedy? I’m hopeful (not confident) that speedy will put some game plans together and get this team ready to go out and fight. I also think this Wilmington loss may give the boys some extra fire too and even speedy. They’ve beaten Charleston, almost beat Wilmington (now gone), so it’s finally time for Hofstra MBB and this coaching staff to step up and get this done.

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Congratulations to Campbell! The Camels vanquished Goliath! They won their first CAA tournament game ever yesterday and are the first #9 seed to advance to the semifinals.
We beat Campbell in our first CAA game of the season on Dec. 29, but that was a long time ago and this is a more experienced Campbell team. We also got a lot of points in that game from guys who have not been scoring (or even playing) much lately:
https://gohofstra.com/news/2025/12/29/m ... aight.aspx
But first we must defeat W&M. I hate playing in the Sunday night game as a seeded team. It's a long time to wait to play our first game, and our opponents played yesterday. But that's what we have to do if we want to go DANCING, right?

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Major upset and I guess now we statistically become the favorite to win this tournament. That really is meaningless if we don't put it together so with the ball in our court(had too) can we win three in a row with maybe our toughest opponent off the board!!
Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Well a couple of you guys called this as a real possibility, kudos to you, I absolutely did not see it - no way in my mind would Siddle and the W lose to friggin Campbell in a year they had it paved to the dance. It happens of course, but still not a great look for Siddle, although to be fair it's his first real blemish in his tenure there. Great news for now for HU, but bad news long term as it means he's likely back and extended at the W to be a continued thorn in our side lol.
Now, will HU capitalize??? Tonight's game became increasingly, and equally, exciting and stressful - unfortunately, all the pressure is on HU - there's really no excuse for Speedy, he has the top talent, he's got to win tonight. The good is this is where leaders shine - big players make big plays in big games - this is a big chance for them to show up and make a statement that they're in it to win it.
Since I'm usually accused of being too negative, let's play the positive spin here for a minute on the huge opportunity ahead:
IF, IF, IF, Speedy and HU can win this whole thing and go dancing, it could be a monumental shift in the programs future - jumping to the national stage with a POY and ROY and a homegrown 'hero' HC former NBA champion leading his alma mater, that's recruiting marketing gold that money can't buy - not to mention the influx of much needed dollars with that appearance.
I've always said, and even my haters must acknowledge this, that I would LOVE to see an NCAAT version of Speedy on the recruiting trail - having that to sell alongside the existing selling points is THE missing piece and could be huuuuuuge.
This opportunity is massive - just can't blow it. The new season for us starts tonight, roll pride, go 1 and 0.

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Campbell led by 19, UNCW went down 11, and Campbell won 85-70. Drexel and Monmouth will start about half and hour late. From conference tournaments through the NCAA Semifinals, fans have to get used to the second game of doubleheaders getting delayed.
UNCW had the top two scorers. Patrick Wessley and Sixth Man of the Year Madison Durr scored 21. Wessler shot 10-14, and had 13 rebounds to be the only player in double-digits in rebounds. Durr shot free throws 11-12. Three players scored 8 including Nolan Hodge, who entered leading them with 14.6 points. Greedy Williams scored 8, and led all players with 5 assists. D.J. Smith led Campbell with 20. After scoring 3 in the first half, he made 3 threes and 8 free throws in the second half. Jeremiah Johnson scored 15 of his 17 in the second half. He shot free throws 10-10. Dovydas Butka had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and tied Johnson for the most assists with 4. UNCW's Williams and Christian May and Campbell's Butka and Cam Gregory fouled out.
Each team made 26 field goals. UNCW had 10 more attempts, 67 to 57. Campbell shot free throws 26-31 (.839), and they have 87 free throw attempts in two games. UNCW shot free throws 16-22 (.727), and threes 2-18 (.111). UNCW had an offensive rebound percentage of 52 in the second half, as they had 13 offensive rebounds, and Campbell had 12 defensive rebounds. UNCW had 10 more rebounds in the second half to finish with more, 41 to 37. I wonder how rare it is for one team to have at least 17 more points in a half, and the other team to have at least 10 more rebounds. UNCW led for longer than Campbell did.
If we face Campbell in the final, they will be playing for the fourth consecutive day with only seven regular players. We easily beat them, and we play good defense, but their offense is scary, and seeing how many free throws they attempted, they could get us into foul trouble. We beat Monmouth twice, but they are a different team with Kavion McClain. Until we see how Drexel and Monmouth do, I would rather play Drexel in the Final than Monmouth or Campbell.
UNCW did not even have the largest margin of defeat by a 1 seed against a 9 seed this season because the Missouri Valley had 9 seed Drake defeat 1 seed Belmont 100-79. I wonder if this is the first season that at least two conferences had a 1 seed lose by at least 15 to a team seeded 9 or worse.
Former Charleston Coach Earl Grant was fired by Boston College with three years left on his contract. Boston College finished 11-20, and second-to-last in the ACC at 4-14. The ACC excludes the bottom three from its tournament, so their season is done. Grant had a 72-92 record coaching them for five years.

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
That was no fluke.
Campbell outscored them 56-26 at one point after they trailed 21-10. The Camels were just great at each end of the floor today.
Maybe it's not so "easy" to win this tournament or this conference, after all.

Drexel leads Monmouth 22-14. The teams combined to shoot threes 8-11, and twos 5-17. Drexel's Kevon Vanderhorst has 10 points in under 9 minutes.

Whoops... can't win them all i guess. This is why I don't bet

Campbell, down 11, got within 33-31 by halftime today.
Monmouth, down 11, got within 33-32 by halftime today.
So, does Monmouth have a second half in them like Campbell had today?
Still trying to wrap my head around Monmouth, Drexel, or Campbell playing for a championship.

Gross. Let's not please. HU, we need you to get it done!

Well, it won't be Drexel. Monmouth won, 65-57.Wags wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 3:56 pm Campbell, down 11, got within 33-31 by halftime today.

Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Towson up 11 at the half. Tejada starting to look like the POY again. Might have another one brewing here...
Re: 2026 CAA MBB Tournament
Towson leads Charleston 43-32 at halftime. Tyler Tejada scored 17, Dylan Williamson scored 10, and Jlynn Counter led Charleston with 9. Charleston made 2 threes and no free throws. Towson had more rebounds 24 to 9, and Towson had the top four rebounders. Charleston had twice as many assists, 10 to 5. Charleston committed 1 turnover, so they got outscored by 13 with an assist/turnover ratio of 10.
Edit: Towson scored the first 11 of the second half to lead 54-32. Connor Hickman, who is Charleston's second leading scorer, is scoreless.
Edit: Towson made a three to go up 61-34 with 15:21 left. Jlynn Counter committed 3 turnovers and missed 1 shot in 1:26. Tyler Tejada has 24 points, and he shot threes 4-5. The second half score is 18-2. I hope the game is quick so that our game starts earlier.
Edit: With 14:11 left, Charleston made their first free throw of the game. It came from Towson's fifth foul, so Towson can only commit one more defensive foul that does not make free throws.

It's now Towson up 61-34 over Charleston
This looks like bizarro world

Townson is manhandling Charleston. I’m a little suppressed at this one…

Ok can't pretend like this isnt shocking even though I thought Towson had a chance. An all-time day in DC alreadyEvanJ wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 7:00 pm

Towson committed their sixth foul with 13:36 left, so Charleston is in the bonus for the last third of the game.
