He started every one of Hofstra's 33 games but has yet to start in 10 games with GW.

He's shooting 57.7% but on only 5.2 FGA.

Strictly by the numbers (I haven't watched GW yet this year), it seems he's more efficient in a significantly reduced role off the bench, in which they're apparently reeling him in to take fewer but better shots.

Interestingly, he loved seeing the CAA again. GW's last game was his best game with his new school. He scored a game-high 20 pts on 6/10 shooting in a 99-86 win over William & Mary. That was the 53-52 shootout at halftime that Evan mentioned in another thread. The 20 pts were a season-high in scoring for him and the only time he's taken double-digit shots with GW so far.

Aranguren had just 1 point and went 0/6 from the floor in 25 minutes tonight. Delaware, which lost to D-II Wilmington (DE) at home and which lost at -Delaware State, very surprisingly won at GW (which was playing well), 70-58.

Hard to fault any kid for chasing the money but when you see what Cruz and Jean are doing this year gotta wonder if Jean has any regrets.

If Cruz keeps up this pace he's gonna be one of best mid major players in the portal and probably get a bag to start for power 4 school next year. And make more money in the end

If Cruz keeps this up he’ll absolutely leave Hofstra with a bag of cash.

Aranguren shot 1-10 in George Washington's bad loss at Loyola Chicago to finish 8-10 in the A10. GW was favored by 10.5, and lost 68-62.

I can't believe there was even once a debate as to which one would be better to keep if both Cruz and Jean couldn't stay.

This should be a lesson to all that there's a BIG difference between jumping ship for a P2 vs a marginal mid major. Bama, Cuse, Tennessee, yes all day. A middle to lower A10, not so much. Now I don't know all the reasons involved here, maybe it was the right / needed move for him in this case, but this is more of a general statement that kids need to be wise when making these decisions. Great opportunities do exist, and utilizing HU to make a substantial jump is awesome when it's possible, but the grass is not always greener in every scenario.

Take heed and be mindful young ones. There are pots of gold to be had, but there's also a minefield of hidden dangers too.

Respect to Jean for showing up to the tournament games.

Obviously it worked out for us, Edmead has been the truth, but I would have loved to see Aranguren stay. I think he would have benefitted from another year at Hofstra, but you just cannot fault someone for taking more NIL money, especially if it is really needed. Also just quickly looked at his stats this year, Aranguren has significantly improved his shooting albeit in more limited minutes, so the transfer didn't really hurt him and GW is having a decent year, but they will need a miracle to win the A-10 tourney.
