Hofstra now all the way up to 6(!) in the Field of 68's mid-major rankings. W&M 15, Charleston 19 here. But no UNCW. Also Columbia is 14 and Quinnipiac 22.

Campbell won 86-72 hosting Hampton. Hampton's Michael Eley scored 43 to become the sixth CAA player to score at least 43, and David Robinson did that five times. CAA teams are 4-6 when they have a player scored at least 43. Campbell had been using only six players. Today they used seven, including Terren Frank's season debut, and he scored 3 in 22 minutes. Campbell's two leading scorers combined to shoot field goals 8-28, and free throws 25-27. D.J. Smith led them with 26 points.

Elon won 69-64 at North Carolina A&T. Elon's Chadler Cuthrell scored 22. NC A&T was led by Mujahiid Burton's 19 points, and Zamolku Weluche-Ume had 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists.

You won 56-37 hosting Stony Brook. Dillon Tingler and Stony Brook's Erik Pratt tied for the most points with 13. Stony Brook shot 12-59 (.203), including 4-30 (.133) in the second half.

UNCW won 87-78 at Northeastern. It was a close game that had the winning points with 3:43 left. UNCW's Patrick Wessley had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and UNCW had a whopping six players score double-digits. Northeastern's Youri Fritz led with 21 points. UNCW made 30 free throws, and Northeastern made 14.

Monmouth won 81-70 hosting William & Mary to give the Tribe their second consecutive loss. Monmouth's Jason Rivera-Torres led all players with 19 points, and had 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Chase Lowe led W&M with 15 points, and led all players with 9 rebounds.

The standings are:

UNCW 4-0
Hofstra and Charleston 3-0
Campbell 3-1
Elon and Monmouth 2-1
William & Mary and Hampton 2-2
Northeastern, Drexel, and Stony Brook 1-3
Towson and North Carolina A&T 0-4

Stony Brook coming off of an 81-80 win over NC A&T scores just 37 in its next game at Drexel. Ouch. Sounds similar to that 55-37 home loss Northeastern had against Hofstra last year.

Eley's 43 pts came on 13/21 fg in 30 minutes off the bench.

His prior three games:

0 pts on 0/3 fg in 8 min
3 pts on 1/6 fg in 13 min
6 pts on 2/8 fg in 19 min

Sports make no sense sometimes.

So after losing our last two games to SB and Elon both games we were clear favorites we drop from 14 to 17 in the Mid Major poll. I actually thought those losses would have dropped us out of the mid major. Does anyone have an opinion re this only dropping a few spots??

I agree. Losing one game might just be a fluke. Losing a second in a row makes you wonder but dropping four straight feels like we’ve been knocked out, and it doesn’t look like we’re getting back up.

I’m not saying we can’t bounce back and be competitive as the regular season leads into the conference tournament, but when it comes to staying in the top 25 of the Mid Major poll, I think that ship has sailed.

I don't care about the mid-major poll. We need to get healthy and win some games...we can still get the 4 seed for the CAA.

HU needs to figure out how to win without being in perfect shape. It's basketball. It's nearing the end of the season. No one is 100% healthy lol and it's silly to have that expectation.

I fully acknowledge injuries are impactful, to every team in every sport. It absolutely makes a difference. But we didn't lose our best player. Haven't all year. We've had to deal with other role guys being down / out here and there, typically different guys throughout the season. I mean, that's sports. Prepare for it. Build for it.

It's year 5, no excuses. Speedy needs to produce a team with usable depth to navigate the very normal scenario of dealing with being dinged up. If he can't that's on him and the staff. Sick of HU having to have every star align all year long to be expected to win. It's ridiculous. Time to overcome it.
