Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
It looks like for the first time in her career Emma did not start. Wow!! I correct myself she has not started every game in her career but this is odd. She did start every game last year and even in her true freshman year started 25 of 33 games averaging 7.5 points.

I predicted 85-45 a 40 point spread
we lose 8o-42 a 38 point loss

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
So what should be the biggest news surrounding this program nobody is talking about. What has happened to Emma Von Essen? She didn't start yesterdays game and only played 14 minutes and didn't score. Both of these stats are very rare as the face of this basketball team she has averaged in double figures in every year except her freshman year and has been one of the leaders in the CAA in three point FG's made. Is she playing injured or has she been sick? It seems like this is being kept secret here something that nobody should bring up? A player with her skill set just doesn't forget how to play basketball and shoot. I know that not everyone follows women's basketball but for some of you guys out there aren't you the least bit curious as to what has transpired here with Emma? We all know that we would get blown out by Kentucky so that's of no revelation( no disrespect Stu) but this is a much bigger story and could really hurt this team moving into conference play!

We really don't know anything we say is purely speculation
It can be anything from sickness to injury to even being in Danielle's doghouse for some reason
Either way her numbers have fallen off the chart

In our first game, we led after three quarters, but host Charleston outscored us 26 to 6 in the fourth quarter to win 72-55. We are 2-10 with 1 Division I win. Charleston is 9-3.

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
There was upset in the air in this game but like so many other times we fell apart in the 4th quarter turning the ball over too many times as they pressed us full court. We missed easy shots by the basket that you have to make to win a game like this. Karim had a nice game with 17 points Sterling 10 points, Emma 8 points only playing 20 minutes coming off the bench. Magolico had 14 rebounds and 6 points and was a strong presence in the post. They scored 22 points off our turnovers but we out rebounded them 42-36. It might be the kind of game this team needs to build confidence moving forward in the CAA. We went into the 4th quarter leading by 3 only to be outscored 26-6. Good effort in this one.

The game is 40 minutes long and they have to play a full 40 minutes
Charleston made the adjustments needed, and you saw what happened

Amazingly enough we win today beating UNCW 54-46. Two teams that really don't shoot it very well. UNCW was 1-0 in the CAA after an initial win over NE. We came in 0-1 after losing to COC in a game where we played well for 3/4. Brown was our leading scorer with 15 followed by Sterling with 11, Emma only playing 13 minutes had 8, 7 for Gooden. Magolico with 2 points but 14 rebounds. Good win for us and maybe with the influx of Sterling coming off a long injury and Brown only playing her second game we might have a team that can win. This remains to be seen.

Towson won 47-46 at us. With 11 seconds left in a tie game, Towson got fouled and made 1 free throw. We did not get a shot after that. Towson made one-third of their field goals, and we made under one-third. Towson improved to 9-5 and 2-0 in the CAA.

So we go to Drexel and get blown out by a score of 67-38
we are not going to win many games scoring 38 points

Usually an optimist when it comes to this team I've pretty much given up hope and don't like that they have put Emma on the shelf and cut her minutes. She has been the face of the program since her freshman days. They have gone from bad to worse.

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
Tonight we played stony Brook at home
As bad as our mens team was last night this was much worse
SBU is in a rebuilding year after losing their two best scorers
tonight they were with out their best and most experienced player in Brantley
They beat us 61-44
Our offense is horrible
we are the only CAA team scoring less than 50 points a game in conference play
we are 1-4 in conference and 3-13 overall
We are headed for another 20 loss season
shot 32% from and floor and I think about 19% from beyond the arc

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
Actually 17% but lets not split hairs. This team with all the talk from the coach on how this could be a special year(paraphrasing) is headed for maybe the worst year we have ever had unless we can have a miraculous turnaround. It's unacceptable and change is needed desperately for this program. SOS!!

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
Again we take the court at home playing NE who came in at 1-4 in the CAA and we lose at home by 2 points. I did see highlights of this game and we had 3 double digit scorers in Sterling 20, Gooden 14 0-2 from the FT line and Carter 11 points. Credit to Magolico with 6 pts. and 12 boards. Stats very similar in this game for both teams and we had higher shooting percentages but if you put the stats under a microscope what jumps out at you in a two point loss is that we shoot 11-18 from the FT line and they shoot 21-24 easily accounting for the difference in this game. We just continue to find ways to lose even when we play a good offensive game. Now 3-14 and 1-5 in the conference and on another footnote Emma only playing 3 minutes. I don't know what that is all about???
Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
This morning, women lose to Towson 58-55 on a 3 pointer at the buzzer. Another brutal loss after leading most of the game. Coach has to go!

Re: Women's Basketball 2025-2026
I used to go to the games but this team is so bad it's hard to watch. I saw one game earlier in the year against Bucknell that they lost by 5 and Bucknell is 5-13 right now. We're more competitive now with Chloe back but they have virtually benched Emma the face of this team and my favorite player. She was having an off year but she's major in their dog house!! They are drawing 415 a game not terrible.Wags wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 1:53 pm If anyone is going to the game on Sunday, it has been changed from 1 pm to 11 am:
