Ugh, just one more Hofstra point and one fewer Monmouth point and it would've been right on.
Instead, 60-60. Overtime.

And a bad foul by Victory. No chance to do anything there. Just let him score. He pushes him in the back and it's a game-tying and-1.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 5:10 pm Speedy with a really questionable sub putting Victory back in for Sunday who had been playing great with around 2 to play. Victory then gives up the and 1 putback to tie it. And then Speedy keeps a million time outs in his back pocket. Could have gotten German back in the game only arguably our clutchest shooter. Make it make sense?!
Wondering if the 27.1% and 16 FGM are all-time lows in Hofstra wins, or at least in the shot clock era. I would imagine if not, they'd be right if there (or down there, depending on how you look at it LOL).
Good thing they didn't have to toss the fan like Paul Davis at the Michigan State game last week.HofstraMathew wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:05 am King Rice was not happy with at least one Hofstra fan. Complained to the refs and eventually Hofstra staff went over and talked to the guy.
I thought Edmead was too quick for Rivera-Torres and avoided the foul, but the ref knowing they're trying to foul to stop the clock, was going to call it merely for the effort to reach for him.HofstraMathew wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:05 am Officiating had some bad calls but probably went both ways. But what was with that call at the end with them fouling Preston. I think the Monmouth's player may have had a fingernail that grazed his jersey and they called that a foul.
There are many problems with the CAA in general (the FloHoops deal at the top of the list), but a close second for me continues to be this league's inability to book even remotely quality refs for their Saturday games. Pretty much have to accept going in that every Saturday league game will be a mess. The 42 combined fouls for our game was a league high for the day fwiwHofstraMathew wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:05 am Officiating had some bad calls but probably went both ways. King Rice mentioned after the game the difference in the quality of refs in this game vs. their prior game, their win over W&M on Thursday, and how he thought that difference was at least one significant factor in the way his team was able to play in beating W&M vs. how they were able to play in losing at Hofstra. To be clear, he wasn't blaming the loss to Hofstra on the refs at all, but he noted a clear difference and the positive and negative effects on his team of each crew, Thursday vs. Saturday (to your point), their past two games.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 1:52 amThere are many problems with the CAA in general (the FloHoops deal at the top of the list), but a close second for me continues to be this league's inability to book even remotely quality refs for their Saturday games. Yeah if you're not going to call that a foul during the game it can't be an automatic foul at the end. Just a joke and Preston was yelling he never even touched me.HofstraMathew wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:05 am King Rice was not happy with at least one Hofstra fan.
