William & Mary at Charleston on CBS Sports Network on Monday at 7 pm could tell us something.
Anyone else watching? It's been a very interesting one.
Both these teams are awfuly good.
With Duggan getting healthy and Counter emerging Charleston might have two 1st team level players. Plus two 7 footers who aren't stiffs. And theyre never gonna lose at home in this league with their crowd
W&M certainly the most unique team in the league. Their depth could be a huge advantage for them in a later round tourney game.
Hofstra ain't beating either of these teams without an A effort
It was a fun game, and yes, both teams are tough. But those two, along with UNCW and Hofstra, are the four to beat, in a top tier by themselves, above the rest of the conference. That could change but I don't think it will before the tourney. I expect those four to get the top-four seeds.
Charleston's 2-3 zone caused W&M's normally dangerous offense some first-half problems before the Tribe started to figure that out in the second half, but W&M couldn't get enough second-half stops to win. They did cut a 16-point deficit to one with plenty of time left before Charleston pulled away. They both have big PGs (Counter, you mentioned, at 6-3, and Lowe, at 6-5. Hofstra may have to switch things up defensively so Edmead wouldn't be so overmatched size-wise. W&M, which plays at the fastest pace in the nation, is also a test for anyone's transition defense.
