Well hopefully Speedy rips the team to shreds like they lost this game. Cause if they had played anyone besides arguably the worst team in the conference they would have today. Have to respect the opponent, better teams in this league will beat us up if we continue to not take the game seriously.

Props to Wills for staying ready despite losing his spot in the regular rotation. His 3 might have been the biggest shot of the game, and impressive how calmly he sank the 2 FTs at the end for a guy whos barely been to the line or played period.

Need a lot more from German. Felt his focus hasnt been anywhere near consistent enough against Campbell or today. What the hell was that turnover with like a minute left?

Hope Biggie isnt too seriously hurt

Yikes. Limped our way to the finish line. Efforts like that will not be ideal to play extra games in March. Happy we won, but gross 2nd half.

Need biggie to be healthy; really a key player in our team that you could tell we were missing in the 2nd half.

Losing Edmead to foul trouble really hurt us; couple that with a Cruz charge and a Plotnikov turnover and this became a game.

We let a 16 point lead get down to 2, up to 11, and down to 1 2:23 later. Drexel never led. Edmead committed consecutive fouls with 6:58 left and 6:51 left to foul out, and on his fifth foul, he got knocked down. The refs did not realize that it was his fifth foul, which made a fan say "this is not the NBA," referring to the fact that it takes six fouls to foul out of an NBA game. Drexel outscored us 19-13 after that.

Davis scored 20 to lead all players, had 6 rebounds to tie for the most among all players, and had 5 assists to lead all players. Edmead had 16 points, 6 rebounds to tie for the most in the game and tie his career-high, and 3 assists. He made 4 of 5 threes, but 2 of 5 twos, and fouled after playing 29 minutes. Those were our only two double-digit scorers. Plotnikov made a three 1:33 into the game, and it took him 31:58 to score again, but he still tied for third on the team with 8 points. Sunday had 8 points without missing and 5 rebounds in 15 minutes. Onuetu had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, but we were -18 in his 23 minutes. We were +15 when Sunday played, and an important +6 in the little bit of time when neither of them played. Patterson had 5 points and 4 rebounds in 10 minutes. Wills had 5 points in 11 minutes. Roberts scored 2, and made his only shot. DeCady shot 0-7, and was our only scoreless player. He had 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 31 minutes. DeCady and Roberts had 1 steal each, which were our only 2 steals.

Shane Blakeney had Drexel with 18 points, and tied for their lead with 3 assists. Eli Beard was their other double-digit scorer, and he had 12 points and 3 assists. Kevon Vanderhorst scored 9, Victor Panov and Garfield Turned scored 8, Josh Reed scored 6, Martin de Laporterie and Villiam Garcia Adsten scored 3, and Dillon Tingler and Ralph Akuta did not shoot. Panoc led them with 5 rebounds.

Here are the Analytics leaders. In efficiency, Davis and Edmead tied for the highest with 19, Sunday was third with 15, and Blakeney led Drexel with 14. In game score, Davis led with 14.6, Blakeney was second with 12.0, and Edmead was third with 11.7. In net points, Davis led with 8.6, Edmead was second with 7.7, and Blakeney was third with 5.0. Net points added up to -1.5 for us, and -3.9 for Drexel. Davis is obviously the player of the game.

Drexel attempted 9 more field goals and 3 more free throws, but they lost because they shot worse. We shot better, with field goals .490 to .400, twos .531 to .472, threes .421 to .292, and free throws .706 to .600. We committed more turnovers 9 to 3, and Drexel took advantage with more points off turnovers 18 to 0. It must be hard to never lead in a game in which you had at least 18 points off turnovers and did not allow any points off turnovers. Drexel had a great ratio of 10 assists to 3 turnovers, and our 13 to 9 ratio was also good. We had more rebounds 39 to 32, which came from more defensive rebounds 29 to 20, and fewer offensive rebounds 12 to 10. We had more second chance points 16 to 12, so we did better after offensive rebounds.

The other Long Island team is at home, and had 50 points, 9 threes, and 13 assists at halftime. Andrej Shoshkikj has 14 points including 4 threes without missing. Stony Brook leads NC A&T 50-39 at halftime. Erik Pratt scored 12. Rob Brown III scored 9 by shooting 3-4 with all of his attempts being threes. Tomas Valentiny had 7 rebounds. Dwayne Pierce led NC A&T with 9 points. NC A&T shot twos 7-22, and threes 7-11. The teams combined to shoot threes 16-27 (.593) and get a majority of their points from threes. NC A&T led 14-7, but they made their last field goal with 4:01 left, and Stony Brook outscored them 12-4 after that. Neither team led by more than 7 until there was 1:27 left.

https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=614840 has statistics of that game.

https://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=615184 will have statistics of Monmouth at Towson.

https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=613432 will have statistics of Hampton at UNCW.

Obviously I didn't like the way we played H2 - tried to nurse the lead to the finish line. Last foul on Edmead was horrible. Disappointed with Roberts - his "D" sorely lacking and probably the reason he doesn't get much "run". Edmead and Roberts can't be on the floor at the same time. Finally DeCady - don't see what everyone sees in him - He can't shoot - even missed some "gimmies" in the paint. Not pretty - but a W

This is what I’m saying. This game should’ve been a blow out. Speedy really needs to get it in these kids heads that they’re trying to stomp of the opponents threats and beat them by as much as possible. Come on guys. We want to be dominant.

Last year's team would've completely squandered that big lead and lost a bad one. And, any time you only get two double-digit scorers and still win a road conference game, you'll take it. We'll see how the season goes. If they get a top-four seed and this is one of the wins that helps accomplish that, we'll look back on this and say that even in a good year, not all conference wins, especially on the road, are easy ones. Also, a good lesson that not all games are won down the stretch. Some are won in the first half, like today, which underscores the importance of being ready from the start (as they were today), which they often weren't last year.

The standings don't list style points and 2-0 looks good however you get it. Meanwhile, the CAA preseason favorite is down 14 at home to Monmouth, has only scored 34 points in the first 32 minutes, and is in real danger of starting 0-3.

Monmouth defeated Towson 62-48. Towson shot .273, including .243 in the second half. They shot free throws .833, but only attempted 6. Monmouth made their last field goal with 4:41 left, and only got outscored by 1 after that. Monmouth's Jason Rivera-Torres scored 21, and nobody else on either team scored more than 12.

Stony Brook held on to win 81-80 hosting NC A&T. NC A&T missed the final shot just like Drexel did.

UNCW is hosting Hampton, and UNCW led 27-18 at halftime. UNCW leads 46-39 with 4:20 left. The teams are on pace to combine to score fewer than Campbell did.

Edit: UNCW won 49-45. Campbell used 6 players, and scored more than UNCW and Hampton's 19 players combined. UNCW shot free throws 8-21 (.381), which was lower than their .388 field goal percentage. UNCW became the first CAA team to win with 49 or fewer points and a free throw percentage of .381 or lower since we won 44-39 hosting Manhattan on December 9, 2009. Player of the Year Charles Jenkins shot 3-14 and scored 9. In the second half, UNCW made one-third of their field goals, no threes, and under half of their free throws. UNCW's Patrick Wessler had 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks, which was useful because UNCW had a big man injured.

Northeastern scored the second most points of the ten CAA teams, but they had the largest margin of defeat. Three of five games were decided by 4 or fewer points.

The standings are:

UNCW 3-0
Hofstra, W&M, and Charleston 2-0
Campbell and Hampton 2-1
Elon and Monmouth 1-1
Stony Brook and Northeastern 1-2
Towson, NC A&T, and Drexel 0-3

Charleston hosts W&M on Monday at 7:00 P.M. on CBS Sports Network, so there will be three undefeated teams after that.

UNCW was underwhelming in a 49-45 home win over Hampton tosday. If Hofstra keeps developing, the CAA is there for the taking this year. There appears to be no one too tough to beat if they play their game.

William & Mary at Charleston on CBS Sports Network on Monday at 7 pm could tell us something.

I didn't see what happened to Biggie. What kind of injury? Did it look serious? Non-contact, etc.?

He banged knees with Roberts. Was able to return to the game for a little bit after a locker room check and riding the bike, but then appeared to re-tweak it non-contact, limped off, and didnt return after that

Sounds like the type of thing that could keep someone out for a Saturday game after injuring it on Thursday, but not the other way around. So, better it happened this way. I think he'd be ready by Thursday after four days off.
