MBB Game 2 - Iona, 11/11/22, 7 PM
Iona crushed Penn, 78-50, in their home opener. This game will be another good test for our team:

Student privacy and also you have to worry about gambling if info is given out

Exact same at Fairfield. Very frustratingtriplec2195 wrote:Ditto that’s always the story at HU no info being disseminated about injuries or illness??HUSID80 wrote:We desperately need our big (s) to play in this one...hopefully Williams is ok...have no idea re: the status of the big freshman

Big time! HU game notes indicate Nelson is starting. Hope nothing serious with WW - our OOC schedule is too tough to play without our bigs.Jojogunne wrote:We're going to have out hands full defending this guy:

Re: MBB Game 2 - Iona, 11/11/22, 7 PM
This is a key OOC game IMO, and more important to HU than Iona - HU has crapped the bed against Pitino and it’s time this program showed it can beat him - I get he’s great, but this isn’t UNC - hold court at home, man up and defend your lair
Would of course feel better with Williams, hopefully he’s ready to rock
NJJ is going to be tough to contain and likely to get his, but so will AE - the supporting cast can make the difference, need to keep that D intensity all game
I don’t view this as a ‘gauge’ anymore, it’s BEEN a gauge, it’s time to win. This program and it’s fanbase need to start acting like a big dog on the hill not just happy to be near it.
Don’t land until 6pm but going to try and head straight there if timing works - we need to pack this out and negate the Iona contingent. Let’s friggin GO!!! ROLL PRIDE!!!

Per an e-mail from Hofstra there are limited amount of tickets left. So looks like will most likely be a sellout but they don't seem to be bringing back any of the 200 sections besides the sections under the suites & student section. Not sure what that ends up putting capacity at.

5124 becomes around 4500
I would say at least 600 seats
They now list capacity at 5,023

Just remember we had heard this sellout news in the past but just how accurate is it??HofstraMathew wrote:Per an e-mail from Hofstra there are limited amount of tickets left. After looking at the seating chart of the Mack Center they could be taking away as much as 1,000 seats
If they sellout the attendance could be announced at around 4,023

The Pride Lounge area also reduces the number of seats available.

What would they gain by purposely not selling tickets? Log on and check out what seats are available. It wasn’t many this afternoon.triplec2195 wrote:Just remember we had heard this sellout news in the past but just how accurate is it??HofstraMathew wrote:Per an e-mail from Hofstra there are limited amount of tickets left. I was hoping it wasn’t a ploy to get people to buy tickets to the game. They sent that email to me also and I’m a season ticket holder and have been for years. If this is in fact bona fide then awesome for us selling it out. I don’t really remember the last time we had an actual sold out basketball game. I wonder how many Iona fans bought tickets.?

Our last home game with at least 4,000 was when 4,223 saw us lose our 2019-2020 opener to San Jose State 79-71, and we go there this season. Our last game with at least 4,000 hosting a CAA team was the home game before that, which was JWF's Senior Day on February 23, 2019 when James Madison's Matt Lewis made a three at the buzzer to force overtime, James Madison won 104-99, and Lewis scored 40.

Thanks Evan good to see u back on the boards. Saw the senior day game and what a gut punch that was but missed the other game. It’s very nice to have a packed house.EvanJ wrote:Our last home game with at least 4,000 was when 4,223 saw us lose our 2019-2020 opener to San Jose State 79-71, and we go there this season. It looks like Iona is around a 2.5 point favorite in this game. We could be undermanned in the post that will be ugly for us against a sizeable team.
Re: MBB Game 2 - Iona, 11/11/22, 7 PM
Seeing Iona by 3 now, with a 151 O/U. Princeton was also -2.5 with a 151 O/U. Funny that Hofstra's first two games are basically the same spread and same O/U.triplec2195 wrote:It looks like Iona is around a 2.5 point favorite in this game. Hope HU defies the spread in this game the same way they did in the first.
This game will be played exactly 11 years after the 11/11/11 Veteran's Day, as will (of course) all others being played today, including a return of the Carrier Classic (aboard the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego) for the first time in exactly a decade (11/11/12) and 11 years after the inaugural Carrier Classic on that 11/11/11 date. Unfortunately, it'll be on ESPN (Michigan State-Gonzaga) at the same time as Iona-Hofstra.
