Hofstra MBB 2024-2025 Schedule and Opponents

Post by thepride23 »

I thought I’d start a thread as opponents get announced for Hofstra MBB for next season! Any rumors on potential opponents? It’ll be hard to top Duke, but would love to see us play at MSG for the first time in a while, another game at UBS, hoping Pitino and St. John stays on the schedule, and maybe a local holiday tournament.

What’s your wishlist?

I heard Pitino wants no part of us after we almost beat the Johnnies last year....so far Speedy has not been afraid to play anyone...maybe a game with Syracuse pitting the Jacquan's would be fun?!

i hope the series with Princeton continues. Its usually a good game and its a plus playing an Ivy. A game with Columbia or Yale would work too. Fordham might draw a good crowd but i hear that's not on the table for some reason. We'll probably get a MAAC school as well. Likely Manhattan or Iona.

Well if we’re going to potentially play Syracuse might as well play Tennessee and see what D-Stone is up to, lol.

Would love to see them play Penn at the Palestra (well, not now with the protests on that campus), or really any Philly area team . Hopefully now that Delaware is gone they make Drexel a Home and Home each year.

Would love to be at the Palestra - one of those places that are worth the trip! A drexel home and home would be nice.

Love these type games - I think Princeton and Iona - should be rubber stamped on our schedule every year -
besides DUKE last year - a few years ago we had UNC Maryland Houston Arkansas UCLA on our schedule - certain we get another Top 20 game scheduled

Rutgers and/or Seton Hall would be nice. Will likely get a Patriot League school on the schedule. Bucknell, Leigh or Holy Cross perhaps.

Do folks on this board ever get together for road games or tailgates?

According to the D1 Docket, Iona at HU, no date as yet. I went to the Iona message board and there were posts listing an eight team tournament in the Bahamas around Thanksgiving with HU, Iona, and Indiana State as three of the teams. The projection is that HU and Iona would be in different sides of the bracket. Wasn't this the same set-up as last season's Gulf Coast Showcase that HU won with victories versus Buffalo, Wright State, and High Point? Also, Northeastern has announced that this is the final season for over 100 years old Mathews Arena which NU uses for both hockey and basketball. This arena has also been home for the Bruins and Celtics. A new facility will be built at that location after the demolition. I guess NU will use the older Cabot Gym on campus that seats about 1500 until the new arena opens.

We played ISU in 2015 when we played in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands lost by 1 point. We also beat Florida State IN THE 1ST GAME of THAT tournament.

definitely for the tournament, there was a small contingent last year that went to duke (i did not go). i think they were doing something for the fort myers tournament last year too, but i had to cancel that trip. the school will occasionally send out a flyer to season ticket holders for pregame events at bar and grill type places for certain road games. there's also the pride lounge before every home game.

We had a pretty strong group at the Duke game. I would estimate about 200 in all. Many were NC residents who relocated there.

Looks like we won’t be getting Penn @ The Palestra this year as their schedule looks pretty much set. Elon is coming to Philly to play them. Holding out hope we get St. John again, as they still have a couple slots left.
