CAA Sports just tweeted that it was supposed to be a JIP at 8:30, but since the Ravens post game show is on, the stream will be delayed more.... https://twitter.com/CAABasketball/statu ... 5173451776

Hofstra led by as much as 16 and leads 39-25 at halftime. Elon made their first three-pointer with 12 seconds left in the half. Green had 9 points and 3 assists but only played 11 minutes because he committed 2 fouls. Kone and Gustys also have 2 fouls. Tanksley leads Hofstra with 13 points and has 5 rebounds. Kone (6 points and 6 rebounds) and Nesmith (8 points and 7 rebounds) are on pace for double-doubles. Nesmith has 2 assists. Neither team shot the ball well. Tony Sabato suprisingly leads Elon with 7 points. Sabato went into the game averaging only 3.3 points. He's a junior and he went into the game with 132 career points.

http://portal.stretchinternet.com/caa/p ... Type=video is a video stream that's now in commercial and hopefully will show the second half.

American Sports Network responded to people's tweets saying they aren't streaming this game online, but the CAA says they are. Shame on the CAA and on Hofstra for knowing that this game would be on tv, but not making it available to Hofstra fans on Long Island/in the metropolitan area.

Hofstra leads 45-33. Hofstra is in a scoring drought. There's 15:17 left. The video said both teams have five timeouts left even though each team can only call four timeouts in the second half.

I think the worst part about small gyms like Elon's (the smallest in the CAA) is the fact that the student section is almost overpowering the announcers. There's nowhere to put them where they'll be heard clearly.

Elon closed to down 7 but then Hofstra went on an 8-0 run to go up 61-46.

Hofstra wins 79-61. Bernardi with a great seconf half winds up scoring 17 and tanksley led all scorers with 25. Nesmith with a double double and Green his usual strong game filling up the stat sheet. This was a very impressive win.

I agree stuball - pretty impressive win. this in light of the fact that Kone, Gustys, and Green all played less than normal minutes in the first half (foul trouble). If I had to come up with criticism, it would be that once again we start slow. The first 5 minutes or so we just come out looing out of sorts.

I think i am most impressed with the patience the team displays. We never really look like we are in a panic - when shots are not falling we just keep playinig our game as though we know that the next few shots will hit the mark. Lots of confidence on display!

Thats all about coaching and leadership on this team. JAM is just the right coach for this program. A veteran coach whos team takes on his personality. Green ,Tanksley and Nesmith are like having coaches on the floor. We are now 13-4 and 4-0 in conference. Also 3 of the four conference wins have been on the road.

This team is really starting to show its chops. Can win many ways. It almost seems like we stalk our prey early in games, decide how we want to play and go out and do it. We have so many weapons and the team plays very mature. Kudos to JAM and the staff too, they know what they're doing and players respond well to them. Could be a special year...another big game on the road next at Northeastern.

Our top four scorers combined to score 69 points. Hofstra shot three-pointers well. They made 14, which is 1 short of the team record. It was the third time this season that Hofstra made 14 three-pointers after they did it against Norfolk State and LIU- Brooklyn. Hofstra made only 10 out of 28 two-pointers, for a horrible .357. A majority of Hofstra's field goal attempts were three-pointers, and Hofstra got just over a quarter of their points from two-pointers. Hofstra's 32 three-point attempts was their most since a loss at Syracuse on December 22, 2006 when Hofstra attempted 34. It was the first time Hofstra attempted at least 32 three-pointers and won since Hofstra attempted 32 three-pointers in a win over William & Mary in the CAA Quarterfinals on March 7, 2003.

Elon's top two scorers for the season combined to make 4 out of 26 field goals and have twice as many fouls (8) as field goals made. Tony Sabato led Elon with 12 points, which is the second time in his career he reached double-digits. He's a junior and his career high is 14 points from the first game of this season. Elon made only 7 out of 17 free throws (.412).

Some bad statistics for Hofstra were that they had 16 turnovers, more turnovers than assists (15), no fast break points, and only 1 blocked shot which was by Green. Good statistics were that seven Hofstra players had at least 5 rebounds and three Hofstra players had at least 3 assists.

Hofstra's largest lead of the game was 19 and Elon's largest lead was 4. Hofstra led for 30:20, Elon led for 7:19, and it was tied for 2:21. Hofstra's most consecutive missed field goals was 6 which were their first 6 attempts, and their most consecutive made field goals was 4. Elon's most consecutive missed field goals was 9 starting with their 20th attempt of the game and their most consecutive made field goals was 3.

Edit: Hofstra raised their season three-point field goal percentage from .393 to .397 and increased their three-pointers made per game from 9.1 to 9.4.

http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400597890 is the Associated Press recap titled "Tanksley, Bernardi lead Hofstra past Elon, 79-61." It says Nesmith's 10 rebounds were his career-high.

Edit: http://gohofstra.com/boxscore.aspx?path=mbball&id=6421 is the box score. Nichols fouled out without scoring. Hofstra is tied for third in Division I in longest active away winning streak at 4 games, 14th in points per game, and 18th in scoring margin per game.

Edit: Hofstra has 13 wins. Only 13 teams have 14 or more wins.

Per Hofstra's game recap, we now lead the nation in road wins.

Win is a win! Even better when it's a road win! Even better better when it's a conf road win! Don't care how, just win baby!!

Great job on a tough stretch, with THE road test next to finish it out - this is a major game, a major test, glad they have a few days to prepare/rest/heal

Tough to nitpick when the bench guy records a double-double lol but as mentioned the slow starts need to get better, and I really would've liked to see the bigs have MUCH better games - Elon is small, no excuses there, bad job for them tonight

But the bottom line is this team is cool hand luke, with leaders and weapons all over the roster - and the best part? They still aren't playing their best ball yet - still potential, still a higher ceiling, still that ability to play firing on ALL cylinders

Time to see what these guys are really made of and really ready for @NU - expecting to see them throw their best at HU

All these wins are important, especially for the Conference Tournament seedings. The Notheastern game is a big game. NE is a top team, the end of a tough road trip and we have been struggling off the first tip.

We have been a little slow starting but its not how you start but how you finish. Its a 40 minute game and we get stronger as the game progresses. We find ways to win. We have not one but several leaders on the floor at the end of the games.

From the William and Mary board:
"Hofstra definitely needs to send us a Thank You note. Obviously, we took all the 3 pointers out of Elon. Samson and Bryant went 4 for 26 (3 for 16 from three) against the Pride in tonight's loss."

I'm assuming they're joking, but still. We obviously just played better defense, and figured out how to contain their two leading scorers, and they had no answer for us.

Should we thank W&M for our 14 3-pointers also? If W&M fans watched, they should know Elon played that game like it was the Final 4. Their sideline demeanor was intense. Their coach and bench was on the court after every bucket made, or loose ball whistle. It was a little ridiculous when they were down 14, but it just showed me that they wanted this game desperately. And in the face of that on the road, we just went about our business and executed brilliantly. One of the best performances of the season.

Actually we should thank Mary for taking the "legs" out of Elon's shooters - watched the Mary-Elon game and Elon was all in and probably emotionally drained after their OT win(Coach not withstanding). "Financial Investors" would advise against risking your hard earned Benjamins on successive "Home dog" upsets - therefore HU the play ;)
