2021-2022 Men's Basketball in CAA Awards

Post by EvanJ »

Aaron Estrada won Player of the Week, giving us two of the first four after Zach Cooks won it the first week.

In the last six complete seasons, the teams to have two players win Player of the Week in a span of four or fewer weeks were Ray and Kante in 2020-2021, Kante and Coburn in 2020-2021, William & Mary's Andy Van Vliet and Nathan Knight in 2019-2020, Delaware's Justyn Mutts and Nate Darling in 2019-2020, Pemberton and Buie in 2019-2020, Charleston's Grant Riller and Jarrell Brantley in 2018-2019, Wright-Foreman and Pemberton in 2018-2019, William & Mary's David Cohn and Connor Burchfield in 2017-2018, Pemberton and Wright-Foreman in 2017-2018, Charleston's Joe Chealey and Grant Riller in 2017-2018, Elon's Luke Eddy and Brian Dawkins in 2016-2017, UNCW's Devontae Cacok and Denzel Ingram in 2016-2017, Northeastern's Alex Murphy and T.J. Williams in 2016-2017, William & Mary's Omar Prewitt and Daniel Dixon in 2016-2017, Northeastern's David Walker and Quincy Ford in 2015-2016, Delaware's Marvin King-Davis and Kory Holden in 2015-2016, and Green and Gustys in 2015-2016. That means we have the last 3 and 7 of the last 18 times it happened.

Congrats to Aaron, he has become a star player for us...great future too. I was talking to former St. John's great Frank Alagia the other day and he saw Aaron play ve Princeton.

Said he was by far the best player on the court, said he could play for anybody...nice compliments!

I'll say this to be totally objective. He's clearly a very good player handles the ball, scores gets assists and can rebound. He has been incredible so far from the FT line hitting 95%. Where he's not incredible though is from beyond the ARC shooting it at 26%. He needs to work on that part of his game and I'm sure he's. But a real solid player and a great get for us.

Agree Triplec. In addition, he needs to work on driving to the hoop on the right side. He's all left. Early in his career, JWF had the same issue. He learned to go right once in while just to keep opponents honest.

That being said, I'm thrilled we have him!

Late in the game we have a lead, I want the ball in his hands Just like Desure Buie who was in a 90 percent FT shooter

Yes Cards that's true didn't think about driving to his right.
