MBB vs W&M, 1/23

Obviously we need to get through tonight's game vs Northeastern first, but it's worth noting that the Tribe had to change their travel plans to get to Hempstead. One of their reporters is now saying that the team will now bus to HU instead of flying. Similar situation 2 years ago, and the Tribe was exhausted from traveling, so we beat them 77-60. As of right now, obviously things can change due to weather, it's looking like we'll probably have an easier time getting from Boston to Long Island than W&M will from Williamsburg to LI. That could work to our advantage.

Looks like the Tribe won't be the only exhausted team. I'm interested in seeing how our starters going 15 intense extra minutes affects our play.

I'm hoping for snow. I want payback against these guys at full strength.

Hofstra has been back for over 6 hours, and JAM said in the post-game last night that they won't be practicing much today. W&M just left about an hour ago, and it won't be a fun time for tall basketball players to sit on a bus that long and then have to play the next day. Our team gets to rest most of today, but the extra 15 minutes played last night might cancel out the effect of the W&M bus trip, since there's a chance neither team will be at full strength tomorrow.

So how does this pan out.....Since both teams will be there today, as long as the officials and a few stats guys can get to the game, then they play???? Expect zero fans to be there.

The game is supposed to be on tv, who knows if that'll end up happening, depending on if tv crews can get to campus. The good thing is students move back this weekend, I actually know of a lot that are moving in today, and some that did yesterday to try to beat the storm. Hopefully they'll venture out of their dorms and go to the game.

Looks like the guys get some extra rest off of last night:

No longer on TV though - so get down there! Sounds at this point like the snow will be roughly from midnight to midnight, so getting to the game late Sunday morning shouldn't be much of an issue.

AND it's now a men's/women's doubleheader!

I kind of wanted to see how the starters (and the staff, if it would have been forced to play the bench more) would respond tomorrow, after the 3 OTs and travel last night, but the time change is much better for all involved (including yours truly!)

starting last Saturday vs JMU - we embarked on a 8 game stretch (playing JMU x 2, WM x 2, NE x 1 and UNCW x 1) that is arguably the hardest part of our 2015-16 schedule - it concludes against WM on the road on Feb 11th.

we are currently 1-1 in those 8 games - and would be great to come out of it 6-2 but more realistically would take 5-3.

In case those links aren't working for you, the Mens game has been moved to Sunday, January 24 at 12 p.m

They seem to be working, but thanks. I should have listed that anyway.

This also works out perfectly for Hofstra/NFL fans, with the AFC conference title game at 3 pm, followed by the NFC's (you know, unless of course, W&M and Hofstra go to 3 OTs or something).

Hofstra just announced that the university is closed tomorrow due to weather. I wonder if the teams will still get to practice.

After last night, HU probably needs the rest more than practice. If they can get together and watch some film on W&M that would probably be enough.

http://gohofstra.com/news/2016/1/22/MBB_0122163304.aspx is Hofstra's preview. http://gohofstra.com/documents/2016/1/2 ... game20.pdf is the Game Notes.

The Sagarin and its components think William & Mary is better and would win at home or on a neutral court, but the Sagarin expects Hofstra to win at home:

Overall: Hofstra by 1.43
Predictor: Hofstra by 1.00
Golden_Mean: Hofstra by 1.97
Recent: Hofstra by 2.49

If Hofstra wins, they will be contenders for the regular season title. If Hofstra loses, Northeastern or Towson will catch Hofstra because Northeastern hosts Towson. If Hofstra loses, they will be 0-2 with both games at home against the three teams they're currently tied with. If Hofstra wins two of their next three games, they will be 7-3 in the CAA. After this, Hofstra hosts Elon, where Hofstra won at, and goes to Drexel. If Hofstra wins fewer than two of those games, they won't have much chance at a regular season title and might end up having to look behind them to hold on to a Top 6 seed to avoid the First Round of the CAA Tournament.

Someone should show our team this video. It'll help get the bad taste of the CAA tournament game out of their mouths, and make them even more motivated to get this win. Someone needs to step and channel their inner Charles Jenkins. We're 2.5 point favorites right now.

Jojo dont expect a big crowd on Sunday as most will still be digging out around noon tomorrow. I understand the winds will not die down until about 3PM.
