JMU plays better on the road, and is coming off of a huge win at Northeastern. They have highest 3 point shooting percentage in the conference, and we're second. They're also second in the conference at 3 point defense. We can't play like we did against Drexel. Time for the team to step up and show the home crowd how well they can play.

A winnable game today. Have to have killer instinct though. We can't let this team hang around. I know JMU is a good team, but we should not be losing home games.

I really hate this Thursday/Saturday schedule as we are not able to rest up after only play at MOST 8 people.. Need a blowout win coming soon to give guys a chance to rest up.

Hofstra is starting Green, Tanksley, Gustys, Koon, and Bernardi. James Madison is starting Shakir Brown (guard), Ron Curry (guard), Jackson Kent (guard), Tom Vodanovich (forward), and Yohanny Dalembert (forward). http://www.caasports.com/custompages/st ... m#team.ind has James Madison's statistics. James Madison's three players with the most three-pointers attempted on the team all shoot three-pointers at least .398, and their six players with the most three-pointers attempted on the team all shoot three-pointers at least .349.

http://portal.stretchinternet.com/hofstra/ will have video.

Who are those cheerleaders on the sidelines? Hofstra cheerleaders are in Florida right now. At least there's some group there making noise though.

Update: As I was posting that, our own cheerleaders won the national championship! So they are excused, at least in my mind, for not being at this game.

Hofstra often invites local high school cheerleaders in that case.

Looks like defense is optional for Hofstra today. JMU is already killing us from 3.

Tied at 36, Rokas Gustys has yet another double-double. He has 13 rebounds, JMU's entire team only has 14.

W&M lost 97-94 in OT at UNC today, so a chance for Hofstra to be in sole possession of first place today.

On the other hand, a JMU win + a Towson win at home over Drexel (Tigers up 17-8 now) would mean a 6-way tie for first place. So a very big game for the Dutch.

An HU win would also give Mihalich a winning record (would be 43-42) for the fist time as a Hofstra coach (he's 307-245 all-time).

Been saying since the preseason that Tanskley needs to be a true No. 2 option behind Green and that how far HU can go this season will hinge on that.

He needs to step it up.

3-for-13 vs. Drexel last game, the same 3-for-13 in the first half vs. JMU today.

Hofstra came back to tie the game after James Madison's largest lead was 28-17. James Madison made 6 of their first 10 three-pointers, but only 1 of their last ten to shoot them 7-20. James Madison missed their last six three-pointers. Green leads all scorers with 11 but has only 2 assists. Gustys has 10 points and 14 rebounds. The last Hofstra player with 20 rebounds was Kenny Adeleke on February 13, 2003 vs. UNC Wilmington. The last Hofstra player with 21 rebounds was John Irving late in the 1976-1977 season vs. Lehigh. Shakir Brown leads James Madison with 9 points.

Edit: Players with 3 or more points at halftime today:
James Madison: 7
Hofstra: 5
Drexel: 0!

Career-high 17th board for Gustys with 14:01 left.

Has 14 pts as well; career-high is 19.

6-0 JMU run has the Dukes up, 49-47, with 12:27 left.

These 2nd half fouls are unbelievable.

Luckily, JMU isn't making their free throws, and now the signature CAA refereeing is catching up, so at least JMU is also in foul trouble now.

Gustsys at 16 & 19.

Last 20/20 game for an HU player: David Taylor in the '81-'82 season.

Last HU 20-reb game: Kenny Adeleke in 2003.

How was that not a travel on Ron Curry? Good call by Mihalich though to put Nichols in at the end of the half instead of Gustys, so we now have him for the OT period.
If Gustys isn't the player of the week this week like he should've been last week, it's time to protest outside of the CAA headquarters in Richmond. 21 points on 8-9 shooting, and 20 rebounds in regulation.

So JMU can slide across the court and gets no call, but Gustys picks up his 5th foul not even touching the other player? And now the refs aren't calling anything on JMU in OT
