Had much higher hopes for him to make some impact. Hope he finds a good spot. And there isn't a chance he's 6'7. He's lucky to be 6'5.

We never got to see him play, so I’m not really sure about his game. Wills was actually pretty good and had a good shot. I didn’t even realize (or forgot) but he played for Wyoming before Hofstra and Wyoming made the tourney quite a few times previously so they were a good program.

Under the new Trump Transfer Rule, a transfer must be completed by August 1 of this year, unless it’s the transferee’s first transfer or he or she has graduated from college. Otherwise have to redshirt a year. Schools violating the new rules can lose Federal financial aid. Expect litigation, but schools likely to comply unless there’s injunctive relief.

No more redshirts basically. You get five years of eligibility in five years. A freshman or sophomore transferring out is locked into his new school until graduation.

I believe the five years start in the year you graduate high school.

I asked AI about Silas Sunday. Under these rules new Trump rules, Silas may have one year left of eligibility. You get five years to play in five years. Silas has played in four. Correct?

Reclarified his status. Seems he is ineligible because he played under the old four years rule. Sorry. Very confusing.

Went back crazily enough and re-checked… Accordinly to the way things work now under the new Trump five years eligibility in five years rules, both Silas and Biggie have one year of eligibility remaining at Hofstra if they don’t transfer.

Of course, the whole Trump scheme may be thrown out because it’s unconstitutional. Total confusion is now the rule in college sports.

It's good to see the government is at least attempting to do something about the absolute nonsense that's going on in college sports.
That said, I'm doubtful any of this is going to stick yet because the rulings keep fueling continued anarchy. The fact that we are allowing kids to have 7 and 8 years of eligibility, to allow an 18 year to face a 28 year old, is absolute buffoonery and dangerous. Yet the kids keep suing and the courts keep giving in to the insanity.
We don't need to refer to this as a "Trump scheme" and turn this into a political argument here, because I'm sure it will lean very one-sided. Let's try to keep it sports focused because all sides are being hurt by this madness. Again, at least someone is even trying to do something.
I don't believe this particular attempt will work, and we'll need someone or something else to really make meaningful change because the lawyers and courts will keep making this all ridiculous. But a start to at least get some intense convos going. And this will all surely get intense lol
As far as eligibility, even if by some chance this does stick, I don't think anyone would be grandfathered, it would likely just be for that point going forward. I think our guys that are done will remain done.
We need to bring in our next group of studs to repeat!

Apparently, both Silas Sunday and Biggie Patterson are CURRENTLY able to play one more year under the new rules that take effect August 1, unless the rules are struck down by a court. Both can transfer because they graduated.

Under the new Trump transfer rules, players who have PREVIOUSLY transferred may become toxic for programs that might have recruited them. This cuts down on players in the transfer pool. Exceptions would be players who have GRADUATED college this year.

Assuming Silas and Biggie intend to stay at Hofstra, this removes two slots for Hofstra in terms of open transfer-in slots going forward. However, if the Trump transfer rules are struck down by a court, Silas and Biggie lose their eligibility and we potentially have lost two transfer slots.

If a court enjoins the new Trump rules and a player like Silas Sunday has played games next season, that team could potentially have to forfeit any wins in which Silas played, unless there is a grandfather clause that protects the players and schools. The point is this is a huge mess in the making unless the new rules are codified by Congress and a court doesn’t overturn the whole applecart. Schools must tread very, very carefully going forward.
