Wow, what a finish vs. Towson! Now we're just one win away from THE DANCE!

We face Monmouth for the third time this season, but the first time with PG Kavion McClain.

McClain became eligible in February, after we had defeated Monmouth twice, and is now the Hawks' leading scorer (17 ppg).

He gives Monmouth a formidable weapon to go along with Jason Rivera-Torres (16 ppg) and Monmouth's deep bench.

With McClain in their starting lineup, Monmouth went 6-2 in February, losing only @UNCW and @Charleston.

The CAA championship game will be on the CBS Sports Network.

Hofstra opens as a 5.5 point favorite. I’d like to see more Biggie and less Victory O tomorrow. Monmouth’s tallest starter is 6’9” which gives Silas a nice height edge like he had vs. W&M. Silas is a weird athlete but he’s been huge on the glass so far in this tourney. Also Speedy’s first CAA title game as an HC. For all the marbles….

We can just about completely throw out the first 2 matchups with Monmouth because of McClain. For those who haven't seen him yet, he's a smaller Edmead (seriously he's TINY) with similar handles. One of the few guards in the CAA who can compare to Cruz and Edmead breaking you down 1 on 1 off the dribble.

DeCady is gonna have his hands full again trying to slow down Rivera-Torres as well. Hopefully our guys have the legs for another tough game after tonight. Limiting turnovers will be another key, Monmouth forced Campbell into 23 of them.

On the positive, I do hope after that incredible shot and surviving tonight our guys come out looser and more relaxed tomorrow. After all, it can't get much harder than what they just went through right?!

This game will be played on the six-year anniversary of the last time they won the CAA tourney, on 3/10/20. *

* If they win, let's hope they actually play in the NCAA tourney and the world won't shut down again.

Expecting another absolute war tonight, no doubt King and Monmouth are going to bring it – this is the pinnacle moment for schools like ours and theirs, this is where you leave all the blood sweat and tears on the floor, WHATEVER IT TAKES

It’s all right here for the taking - this is the moment we’ve been waiting for since 2001 - ***2001*** after the total gut punch in 2020 this program and this fanbase deserve an iconic time like this

Surreal that we are here right now, this team may very well have something special - it will take everything we’ve got, go take your moment fellas and make the magic happen

Just one word: F I N I S H !!!

Yes, should be sitting somewhere around here:

Props to the Hofstra fans who have showed up behind the Hofstra bench. They've been outnumbered but have been into it and great for two days. It''s a shame that tonight's atmosphere will be different for a title game with the two schools that are left, but that'll help Hofstra. It won't be a pseudo road game like last night.

So long time Hofstr fans think Chaz Williams when you see McLain from Monmouth.
Drexel tried to take him out of the game and Monmouth turned to Rivera Torres to take over.
I think their center gets in foul trouble. We may win the rebounding game.
Look for a big game from Biggie or German and I like our chances.
No holds barred. Seize the moment!!

Monmouth is incredibly pesky and seeks every opportunity to poke the ball away and to force turnovers. We already saw a taste of that in the home game against them. But we also saw what can be done against them at their place.

With everything on the line, expect the former more than the latter unless we see an early shooting start for guys like Cruz and German and what they showed against W&M on Sunday. Can also say that for Edmead, Biggie, or DeCady if it's any of their turns to hit some shots early. If that's the case, Monmouth can't score to keep up, even with McClain. If not, expect another grind.

King Rice said last night that he believes it's a matter of time before Monmouth's offense uncharacteristically breaks out, and he's hoping that's tonight. Let's hope he's wrong. If not, they're going to be a problem.

Monmouth's semifinal post-game interview. Worth watching:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BkH9eYT9Dk

PG Kavion McClain had to sit out most of the season because he and his former schools were under NCAA investigation for "rules violations":

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/monmo ... 17310.html

It isn't clear to me if McClain did anything wrong or was penalized for something others did. Had he been cleared to play the entire season, Monmouth likely would have finished the regular season with more wins and a higher seed.

Should be a great game tonight.

https://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/202 ... ament.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Monmouth (CAA Tournament championship game)." Davis passed Wandy Williams and Mike Moore for 34th with 1,138 points. He has 1 fewer than Nathaniel Lester, and 21 fewer than Ted Jackson. Edmead tied Jenkins with 27 double-digit scoring games as a freshman with 27. Considering that teams used to play fewer games, I am assuming that is our old record, and hopefully Edmead becomes our first freshman to have 28 double-digit scoring games. Sunday's 32 minutes were his career-high.

https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=652818 will have statistics.

There are about 8 rows of enthusiastic students for Monmouth and 2 rows of quiet students for us. That's pretty sad.

If you didn't know what happened last night wouldnt be hard to figure out which team played an OT war and which team had an easy win. But maybe weathered the early storm here big and 1 opportunity for German into the TV timeout
