Charlston wins by 22 points at Stony Brook put up a real fight. They just ran out of gas.

They were down 22-2. Thankfully youre not a boxing judge. Stony Brook wasnt in this game for a single second.

CofC at least had to work harder than HU did, and that makes some level of impact. Gotta take every advantage we can get! Hopefully their opponent tomorrow will knock them out... or give them a true scare. And HU keeps steamrolling.

And now Towson up 25-5 before you blink. A true 3 headed monster at the top when Towson brings it. Could be a huge advantage for Hofstra if Charleston and Towson beat each other up tomorrow. Towson winning that game over uncw last week was big

I think playing yesterday hurt the lower-seeded teams.

Towson beat Delaware, 86-60. From what I saw of the last two quarterfinal games, the Tigers worked a lot harder than Charleston to get their win, which may give the Cougars a conditioning advantage tomorrow.

I didn't see that at all. Towson was up 25-5 and 37-10 and coasted from there. Charleston was up 22-2 and never seriously threatened. They were actually slightly outplayed by Stony Brook after that.

Charleston's win was really just a game for the analytics crowd. They did not shoot well at all, they were actually outshot, 39% to 38%. They only shot 27% from 3, but they won because they attempted 23 more 3s and made eight more than Stony Brook. They won easily because of the big start, but only Hofstra and Towson really raised their games to another level yesterday. If we base it solely on how they played yesterday (which maybe isn't a great way to pick), Towson should beat Charleston tonight.

I was talking to Pete Gillen, who'll do the color commentary on CBS Sports Network tonight and tomorrow. We were both surprised, not at all that Towson won, but how they won. They crushed Delaware early and did not let up from there.

To put yesterday's performance in perspective...

Hofstra won a CAA quarterfinal game by virtually the same score they beat a D-III team by this year:

Hofstra 96, Old Westbury 48
Hofstra 94, William & Mary 46
