It is tough to say for sure since we don't know the formula but 3rd place seems attainable. Syracuse was 60th on December 31st so if they had just stayed steady we would have passed them in just this week.

Iona moved up from 15th to 8th.

NET rankings have yet to be updates (following the CoC victory) but the realtime RPI ranking has us up 25 spots to crack the top 50 - coming in at 49.

Hoftra is now 48 in the NET rankings through yesterday's games.

Yup, just six behind St. John's (42) and eight ahead of Seton Hall (56).

Stony Brook down at 131, despite a similar record (16-3) to Hofstra's and a 4-0 start in the America East. Another advantage of Hofstra playing a much better league than the AE. Stony Brook not remotely considered for a vote in the AP poll (like Hofstra has) nor for Andy Katz's Power 36 (where Hofstra is listed this week).

I like the sound of 36 but do we hear possibly top 25. Would this be a first for a HU basketball team to be ranked top 25?? That's a question.

we'd have to run the table through February to get Top 25 consideration IMO. Sad but true. I thought we'd have more than 1 vote today- I really did

Stony Brook has only 2 wins against teams in the top half of the NET, which were at South Carolina (113th) and Rhode Island (128th). Their only wins against teams above .500 were at Rhode Island and hosting Delaware. On Saturday they host Vermont. Both of them are 4-0 in the America East, and everybody else has at least 2 losses.

Unfortunately HU has beaten absolutely no one of real substance. Blinders off, that's the truth, no one. Despite what some may want to believe, the CAA is not good this year at all, and has been pretty down IMO ever since the VA 3 left - a shadow of it's former self.

Yeah, still a good mid major, some good teams and talent, and you can pull whatever conf ranking stat you want, but see the perception reality is nationally nothing like before and very little traction in the grand hoops world. Few care but us CAA people.

I don't care if HU runs the table, I would bet solid $ HU will not get an at-large - it's dance or bust - MIGHT get a #25 ranking if they roll through it all undefeated, maybe - but still questionable/doubtful, and an at-large isn't happening by just beating up a bad conf and zero signature wins - and with Charleston pedestrian, it's even worse.

Man I would love another crack at somebody national/big - it's unfortunate that HU wasn't able to get over that hump early... attention and respect would be even bigger now.

Just gonna have to win it all and show out on the national stage in the DANCE !

Was hoping Maryland would have beaten Michigan St last night to move into first place in the Big Ten. That would have helped a bit, VCU is first in a down A10 but none of this is enough to get us over the top for an at large IMO.

Mary never in the game vs My Spartans (playing without their 2nd best player and Nick Ward not scoring a point). Cassius Winston one of best (if not the best) PG in the Country. Izzo doing an amazing job - losing 2 lottery picks - Sparty has won 20 straight regular season conference games. Big Ten and CAA both down a bit this year but certainly enjoying both my teams success!

Agree won't be enough for an at large but every little bit that we move up gets us a potential better seed if we win the conference tournament.

Not likely. But I remember the 94-95 Manhattan team. They were something like 24-3 with no signature wins when they lost in the MAAC final and got an at large bid and then won their first NCAA game.

But we would have to essentially run the table and lose in the CAA final to even have an outside shot. Would like to have that Maryland game back.

That's a great point. Plus it's just fun to speculate. Also, the NCAA wants to validate the NET, if we're top 50, are they really going to take the 10th ACC team that's sitting at 57, or us if we're at 42?

Yeah it's highly unlikely, even if we run the table to the final, which would constitute a 27 game win streak! I would like some consideration if we snapped off a 27 game win streak though.
