Volleyball

Post by stuball888 »

Another great start to the season as Hofstra goes 7-1 in its first 8 games. team is now more balanced and coach Emily Mansur has taken over for Kristina Hernandez. kelsie Wills now has more help as Emily Burke has improved dramatically in her senior year. We have more depth across the front and have two good setters. the team has many seniors on the team so this year I expect them to compete with C of C for the CAA title.

Congrats to Hofstra on their opening conference victory over Elon 3-1. Also congrats to Kelsie Wills on becoming the all time leader in kills in Hofstra history.

The volleyball team had a huge win over defending CAA champs Charleston last night. Went to 5 sets, and easily could've gone either way, but Nuria Lopes da Silva helped seal the deal with a 20 kill night. Team is a perfect 6-0 in the conference, and 18-2 overall. At this rate, I think our first year head coach is a solid candidate for CAA coach of the year.

A first place finish will definitely give her COY. Emily was instrumental in getting Lopes Da Silva here. We have a good mix of local and international players. Two from Germany, Brazil and New Zealand. We were picked fourth. This teams chemistry is great and they really enjoy playing with one another and having Emily as coach. She makes very good in set adjustments and subs well.

The volleyball team swept JMU tonight, and host CofC tomorrow night in a match that will decide the regular season champion.

Bumped to the top. Congrats to womens volleyball team and coach Emily Mansur on advancing to the CAA championship game with a 3-0 victory over JMU in the semi finals. They face defending CAA champs College of Charleston.

Congrats to the team and all the seniors. I thought I heard that Emily Burke won the tourney MVP. I thought it would be Kelsie Wills. If Emily did win it congrats to her as I said I thought she was one of the most improved players from last year. Wills, Burke,Klemm and Da Silva were just outstanding all year. Kostova should step in nicely for Wills next year. The teams record of 28-5 this year was incredible. They did beat some really good teams in C of C and Towson. C of C and Towson are on the bubble for at large bids but I think they will fall just short.

the monkey is off our backs. We had a pretty good fall season. We had three players of the year. Volleyball, womens soccer and Field Hockey. Thank god for the women of Hofstra. So much for the 'weaker sex". LOL!

So I don't know much about volleyball, other than that I was terrible at it in gym in high school. But from what I'm reading, Nebraska doesn't lose at home. Like, ever. And I don't know what kind of crowds the Hofstra girls normally see, but I have a feeling it's not 8,000 screaming Nebraskans. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebraska ... volleyball

Apparently we're the best first-round opponent Nebraska has faced in 14 years. Their coach is very impressed by Nuria Lopes da Silva. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/n ... 23c43.html

Also, the team made ESPNW this morning. http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-commentar ... volleyball

Very impressed with Hofstra. I don't know much about volleyball but what I saw we were not outclassed nor outplayed, Nebraska was just a bit bigger a bit faster a bit better and purr girls stayed with them.

Congrats to you girls, well done.
