So Hofstra begins a new season under new coach Adrienne Clarke
Todays first game against Bethune Cookman at 11am the Butler at 130
We play 4 games today and tomorrow
Expect the team to go 2-2 and hoping for 3-1 start

So we drop the first game to Bethune Cookman 6-1
This was a game I had pencilled in as a win
This team list toLouisville 14-0
Its our first game so hopefully we rebound against Butler

Apsel pitched that game and I think it was her first after sitting out last year. We have new pitchers in the form of Butler from Seaford(WHERE DANDOLA came from) and the kid from Rhode Island Venturini. They both had really good stats in HS so we may be in better shape this year since pitching is the name of the game.

Lets hope so

Its will take Addie a couple of years to build a good hitting lineup with power

Stu, not in better shape yet. 12 runs in two games doesn't get it done.

We have to be patient. The team will improve as the season progresses .Also 1 run in two games doesnt get it done.

We're now 0-4 after losing to Liberty 6-3 and Stetson 4-0. We were hurt in both these games with sloppy fielding and no run support. The kid from Rhode Island Venturini continues to pitch well without a lot of support. She pitches a complete game with 7K's against Stetson and gives up 2 earned runs. Only 3 earned runs scored in the Liberty game as well so it seems we need to tighten up our D and start hitting the ball. Anna Butler the pitcher from Seaford hasn't pitched yet so anxious to see how she's going to pitch.

This season will be a work in progress
I wonder what the transfer portal looks like
With Covid I am sure there are players with a year left looking for playing time

Also a team that is built for speed we only have 1 stolen base in one attempt thru 4 games
Let hope next weekend things start to come together

We are probably going to get pounded in that tourney starting Friday where we play 2 against both Indiana and Florida state. Madison Burns hasn't pitched as yet which might be a good thing??

Either she is injured or Addie knows what she has in Maddie.

What about Anna Butler??

On a team that needs pitching and hitting apparently why would she redshirt. She was a top 100 player on Long Island for a while now it would seem she would get playing time right away especially on the hill. It looks like in the early going that they have high hopes for Venturini who's a strike out pitcher, Apsel who had to sit out in her freshman year due to injury, Mullin who pitched a lot last year but isn't a strike out pitcher and Pisapia has gotten into games and did pitch decent last year. No Burns yet who had a 3.46 ERA last year. They play so many games with doubleheaders that you think Butler is going to get playing time?

We're 0-8 right now after dropping another doubleheader to Indiana/Florida State. We continue to pitch decent with the exclusion of the last Florida State game where we lost 10-0. Venturini couldn't get out of the first inning. The real issue moving forward appears to be our total non existent hitting. I mean we're getting a hit or two against these teams and have to resort to small ball to try and get anything going. Even if our pitchers were only giving up one run we would repeatedly get shutout. Awful.

Going into todays game we have 36 hits with 5 extra base hits. 3 doubles 1 triple and 1 HR in 8 games.
Other than Fla State (2games) the others were ordinary teams.
Of our 36 hits I think 20 of them were either bunts or infield singles.
This team almost needs 3 hits to score a run. Hopefully things get better as the season progresses.

We are averaging 1 run a game. Of the 275 softball teams in div1 we rank 270.
