Terrific, thanks triplec.

Also, Yesterday both News 12 and Bruce Beck on NBC showed brief clips from the game.

I'm hoping Speedy gets a call from WFAN this week.

Looks so strange, in 2021, to see such a simple court - just the circle at midcourt, no writing or logos at all along the baselines or anywhere on the court at all other than for the venue (Simmons Bank Arena), the entire court the same color and same shade with the wood (no difference inside and outside the 3-point areas and lanes). Like the old days. You really don't see that anymore. Odd to see that especially today for an SEC program like Arkansas.

As always thanks for nothin’ Newsday.
Newsday did in fact have a nice article and a big photo of the game with the HEADLINE HOFSTRA UPSETS ARKANSAS on page A53. Right opposite coverage of the St Johns loss which is on the left page.
It was the AP Arkansas writer...didn't even mention the travel troubles, etc...not your hometown newspaper I'm sorry
Newsday never writes their own article for away games.

I don't know how often the venue gets used, but according to Google Maps it's 2:38 away from campus. That would be like St. John's playing in Albany.

I wonder how much CBS Sports Network will talk about this when we are at Elon on December 31 at 12:00 P.M.

That is not the Razorbacks home court...it's a neutral court and thay do not have a very good record player there I read somewhere. Interesting to see what CAA rival does against the Razorbacks...my gues is that Arkansas come out with purpose and wins easily.

Okay, yeah - Bud Walton arena has the floor you'd expect: https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/bud-walton-arena/ - that's where Elon will be playing tomorrow night. Musselman looked pissed on Saturday night. I'd expect that he will have his team ready to take out its frustrations on our fellow CAA foe.

Why did Hofstra play at Simmons instead of Walton? The crowd was big at Simmons, but Walton seats more and the crowd on Saturday didn't seem that into it (although HU had something to do with that). Bud Walton Arena seems a lot more intimidating. Not to take anything away from a huge win, but did HU catch a break playing at Simmons?

I wanted to give Dubar some props for this game too. He played all 40 minutes, had 5 steals, 11 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 1 turnover and committed no fouls. Getting production like that from the 4 spot is great for us; the guards will score. So what seems like some solid defense out of that spot probably helped tip the scales in our favor.

You should take the time to watch the entire game. I've watched about 30 minutes and our zone was giving them quite a few open looks and really they miss shots that a team of this caliber should have made. I hate the soft spot in the key that always seems to be open when they play zone. Arkansas was trying to capitalize on that area and did get some easy buckets.

https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-me ... w-power-36 says "Providence beat UConn to earn team of the week honors, edging out Hofstra, which stunned Arkansas in Little Rock." https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... -rise-no-6 is about the AP Poll and says "Dropping out were the Huskies and Arkansas, which lost to Speedy Claxton's Hofstra over the weekend."

We are one of three teams in the top 15 in fewest fouls per game and fewest turnovers per game. The others are Appalachian State and New Hampshire.

We were on TV a lot more before the top conferences made TV networks. If you compare our amount of televised games 0 to 5 years ago and 10 to 15 years ago, I would expect us to be among the biggest decreases.

It's the first time we played in front of over 10,000 fans twice in a season since 10,127 in a loss to Western Kentucky on November 19, 2010, and 11,575 in a loss to Nebraska two days later. Those were in Puerto Rico. In between then and now, there were early season and CAA Tournament games where the attendance isn't listed, and I assume it was under 10,000. I don't expect many early neutral site games where one or both teams is a mid-major to get over 10,000 unless there's a special mid-major like Gonzaga. We opened the tournament in Puerto Rico by losing to North Carolina. The game was on ESPN or ESPN2. Charles Jenkins was incumbent POY and a senior, but all ESPN cared about was North Carolina freshman Harrison Barnes, who is averaging 17.4 points in the NBA this season and has a career average of 14.0, so he was worth the hype.

In a span of 14 days, Hofstra, Elon, and Arkansas will play the other two. I think it would be unusual for three teams to do that when they're not in a round-robin tournament, not all in the same conference, and not near each other.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aaron Estrada, Hofstra
Junior | Guard | Woodbury, N.J. / St. Benedict’s

Estrada is the first two-time Player of the Week in the CAA this season after leading Hofstra to a marquee win over No. 24 Arkansas on Saturday night in North Little Rock. The junior from New Jersey led the way for Hofstra with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in a game the Pride led for the final 31 minutes of the contest. Estrada was 7-of-12 from the field and 8-for-8 at the free-throw line while recording a career-best performance on the glass.
