Sadly he has outgrown Hofstra and other mid major schools as well. He has put together a nice resume since his freshman year here. 14 points 6 rebounds and shooting 43% from 3 last year. We would gladly take that or Amare Marshall's numbers for that matter. It's all water under the bridge.

BTW - Green played for Tulsa's coach at Louisiana Tech on one of his stops so Tulsa had an in. Nice pick up by Tulsa.

Seems like we've recruited a lot of talent we've been unable to keep

Unfortunately yes. Amare Marshall now at St. Bonaventure.

The same can be said for every school in Division One in this new NIL era.

Mostly, yes. But some have been able to keep key players even while losing others, including one of our conference rivals (Towson), who we can learn from. Why is what they're doing with raising NIL working for them but not for Hofstra and how does Hofstra replicate that for itself?

Wags, we know nothing about Hofsta's NIL plan or resources...everthing is speculative...like virtually everything with this program unfortunately.

Unless we make a splash with these final spots - to me it’s a clear indication Hofstra is moving away from any minute emphasis on sports we ever had in the now NIL age.

Which is exactly why some here don't understand where the optimism comes from. When everything is merely speculative, without results (of better players being signed), and without communication to the fanbase (on NIL, etc.), the optimism is viewed merely as wishful thinking rather than real faith that those positive results are truly coming.

Communication with the fan base? Never. Everything is on double-secret probation.

This^^^. Being positive is great and all, but you need to be realistic and see it for what it is. I’ve said this numerous times now and I’m glad I have a couple other board members who see it for what it is as well.

Perhaps the optimism comes from this program's and coach's track record...the only poor season was last year out of how many 20-plus win seasons in a row.
I also wonder how many on these boards contribute ANYTHING to the program? Want a say in matters? Put up!

It's no coincidence that that good track record was before this new NIL/portal world really kicked in for real and that the only bad season was as that world began for real.

I'd be optimistic too if we were still in the old world, because of that same earlier track record. Unfortunately, we're no longer in that old world (I wish we were, it was better for the sport and better for Hofstra than now). They didn't ask for this, so in a way, it's not their fault. But at the same time, it's sink or swim now and we don't see them keeping up with their main competition, which has seemed to adapt better to the changes so far.

Fair, but if it were a stock, I'd feel iffy about investing based on the probable ROI right now. ;)

They will hit a crossroads, probably in the very near future, where the administration has to decide whether or not to invest much more heavily in the program. I don't know what their income statement looks like but I can't imagine they are making all that much from having D1 basketball. If they can't compete in the conference, it becomes a near impossible task to get more people to show up, more donors, and more from existing donors. That was hard enough when they were a perennial contender.

Yup that was the first thing I thought of. I'm not investing in a company that shows me all they are going to do is take my capital and dilute the crap out of me every quarter. This athletic department has been trending in a straight line since Rabinowitz took over. Down only.

Spot on BBF. Just read each ACC school got a $45 million share of the conference receipts. Geez.

Well its not a stock> It's your Alma Mater's sprots program and you get back what you put in...lots of whining here but now action.
Agree theprogram should be more transparent and communicative, but our fan base should not sit on its hands and do nothing.

Here’s the sad thing. Each regular member of this group could contribute 10k each, and it wouldn’t move the needle.

And it wouldn't even be acknowledged. In my view Cole has got to go. He's a nothingburger.
