There's a difference between easiest win (by the score) and easiest opponent. I interpreted Newsday to mean easiest win, but I could be wrong.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket ... ng-records requires Insider, which is now part of ESPN Plus. 6 days ago, Joe Lunardi wrote that teams should have to be at least .500 in conference to get at-large bids. In the five complete seasons since realignment, eight teams have gotten at-large bids while below .500 in conference, and they got two wins combined. He ends by saying:

"Heaven knows Buffalo and Wofford and Hofstra and Murray State and Old Dominion and VCU and Temple and Utah State and San Francisco and UNC Greensboro couldn't match the lofty standard of .200 basketball as at-large teams. We can hear the fans from here: "Give us more losing teams, instead ... "
So what comes to mind when considering this obviously as a fan of a mid major would love to c more mid majors get in sets up the scenario for cinderella teams to get upsets. I wonder though when these P5 schools with losing records get in as an at large school how r they seeded? Would there seeding be higher then ours as an at large lets say seed 13??

Iona and BYU received at-large bids as a 14 seed in a play-in game back in 2012. Head of the committee, our guy Jeff Hathaway.

But at-large bids haven't been lower than 11 since 2014, that could change this year, I don't think there is a hard rule on the seeding. If we were to win the CAA, we would be in the 12-13 range, most likely.

I've seen brackets with the First Four for at-large bids as 11 or 12 seeds. Conference tournament upsets matter. Let's say Drexel wins the CAA Tournament and gets a 16 seed. One team who would have gotten a 16 if we made it gets bumped up to 15, a 15 gets bumped up to 14, and it continues up to whatever seed we would have gotten.

I called Mike Francesa againg today to discuss JWF’s brilliance. Like him or not he has a ton of listeners so getting the team on the air helps. Sadly he had to mention that the game was not on TV so he didn’t watch. Really didn’t have a lot to add ofher than to say we struggled with WM, but gee whiz you’re not gonna blow everybody out. Really hope we can get another game or two on TV this season. Coverage has fallen so far ever the CAA titles game which always used to be on ESPN is buried on the CBS Sports net. Such a shame.

I don’t understand how the CAa doesn’t have a TV contract. This falls squarely on the shoulders of our commissioner. Last year even the Ivy League had their women’s games on TV. Can we at least have contracts with FSNY or local stations to view these games How many times can we watch reruns of Mets games from 2010 to 2015

I would guess the large geographic footprint hurts the CAA in trying to negotiate a conference wide TV contract. I think this now falls on Hofstra to try and negotiate one. Northeastern and Delaware have done it; so hopefully this is the next step that the new administration in our athletic department takes.

If Joey didn't spend so much time photo-bombing every team in the League and worked on a TV deal the League would be much better off. Bid mistake was leaving ESPN a few years ago...now even the America East has a better deal than us...I would take ESPN+ in a heartbeat with a couple of games on the U.

Do it Joey...I don't want to see you leave Richmond without a better deal in hand.

It always bothers me how local womens games with about 17 people in the stands can be on tv but our games can’t. There’s not a human on earth who would think that garbage would get better ratings than mens games. Not one.

ESPN+ was created to include ESPN Insider, and people who subscribed to ESPN Insider get ESPN+ included. If your Insider subscription expired, you will need to pay for ESPN+, which includes ESPN+ (games and shows) along with articles from what used to be called Insider. Try to watch http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=8d7 ... 1ede35d1af and see if you can. If you can't read the article, you shouldn't be able to watch a game either.

As for the CAA not having a TV contract, when we were good in 2015-2016, we had 2 CAA games on NBC Sports Network (national TV), 4 CAA games live on SNY, and 1 CAA game on American Sports Network (which no longer exists). That game was on live in some or all of 35 states, but here it was on SNY at 10:30 A.M. the next day. That game was on live in 20 of the biggest 50 TV markets. NBC Sports Network showed the CAA Semifinals and Final. My point is that it's not like the CAA never had a good TV deal after leaving ESPN. I'm assuming NBC Sports Network is in more households than ESPNU, so among CAA regular season games the only game I think we played on a channel in more households than NBC Sports Network was at George Mason on ESPN on February 10, 2007 (NBC Sports Network didn't exist then, but I think it's fair to compare households). ESPN used to give the CAA one game per season on ESPN or ESPN2, with many on ESPNU. The one game was sometimes ODU vs. VCU, but we were chosen in 2007 because of how George Mason got an at-large bid over us the previous season. 10 of our 18 CAA games were on TV in 2006-2007.

Excellent! This is good news.
First step is to keep playing well and then second step is to get HU name out there in the at large conversation. Of course this is just a back-up plan in case we don't cut nets in Charleston, but its a good development nonetheless.

58th best sounds good but you probably need to be around top 40 to actually get an at large.

Correct as this list does not include all the lower rated automatic bids that are given.

Agreed, but in the event we do get into the 40's, we would certainly need to be chatted up as well. Of course its a long shot, but some ink and recognition can't hurt.

That's the main thing here. I posted this because A) it does suggest that the at-large chatter has begun in terms of the fallback plan, but I mainly posted it because B) it's simply nice to hear that the team is getting this type of national attention. Certainly can't hurt recruiting for the future. That said, the primary focus needs to remain the same: win the regular season title, play well going into Charleston not only tonight, but the NEXT time, and win three in three days.
