How about another Rhode Island Freshman - Marial Mading 6'8" PF - looking to leave RI and was on HU original recruiting list.

Saw that. Would like us to get someone who is eligible immediately; a freshman big, JC, or one and done transfer.

I see him listed 6'10-6'11...would take him in a heartbeat but would have to sit next year. They'd be set up front for 2020-21 and can still add a 1 and done big for next year if Silverio is eligible.

He did not have an assigned number last year on URIs roster, nor did he appear in any games (per season stats). Looks like he redshirted his freshman year. My question is - does he still have to sit a year if he did not play at all the previous year?

It still would be a transfer to another D1 school, and to one that recruited him no less. My understanding is that he'd need a waiver.

From the online tapes I have seen Mading appears to be potentially the perfect compliment to Kante...for a guy 6-10/6-11 he handles the ball great...

To HUSID74, Thanks for the inside info. We all hope he can develop into another of Coach Joe's special players. Looks like the 2019-20 roster is shaping up. I would still like another big forward, hopefully a grad transfer, that is immediately eligible. HUSID74, do you have any other info on other possibilities? Also, do you have any info on the out of conference schedule?

If OS is eligible next season I think it is likely that Miranda joins Cramer in red shirting next season...

When you watch the video of this kid you see what his game is. He penetrates and looks to put the ball off the glass. He also has a decent outside shot. I would imagine that he will spend some time at the foul line with all his driving. As previously mentioned he doesn't appear to have a great vertical leap and we haven't seen him dunking. At least I haven't on anything that I watched. Some on-line stuff has him listed at 6'5" so I'm sure he's able to dunk. I'm not so sure that he will be a redshirt this year but we will see about Silverio's eligibility?

I just wanted to recap where we stand with our roster for 2019-20 since we only have 1 scholarship left:

PG: Buie, Burgess and Miranda
SG: Pemberton, Ray and Silverio
SF: Coburn, Trueheart, Hughes and Cramer (Coburn really is a SG but listed him here since that is what he played for us last season)
PF: Kante and Schutte

Assuming Silverio, Cramer and maybe Miranda redshirt it leaves us Buie, Burgess, Pemberton, Ray, Coburn, Trueheart and Kante who we can expect to get minutes. We then need either Schutte/Hughes to be the 8th guy or that is someone that will take up the last scholarship.

Of course we also have the well loved walk on Connor.

I wouldn't worry about his leaping ability. He may or may not be a "high flyer", but there are very few recruits that once in a rigorous training program don't increase thier jumping ability. Miranda at HU would likely be no different. Almost all of our guys have benefited from the strength and conditioning programs they are put on. Geeez, just look at Connor - kid could not get off the ground when he started....now dunking is no big deal.
