Anyone else just have a good laugh at the William and Mary ad that aired right after the game, calling the school "the finest in the country?" It's a good school, I'll give them that. I'll even say that they're amongst the academic elite. But they're not the finest. Especially their men's basketball team this season

I think he had 14 against Northeastern, but that was triple OT. 12 may very well be a career-high in regulation.
That's correct. Gutsys' 25 pts ties his career-high too, I think.

Big win, 86-80. This team needs a dedicated cardiologist at all games, not for the team, but for the fans, I can't take many more of these!

Polito will be happy he can watch the William and Mary fans have another meltdown on their board.
Top 50 RPI wins:
Hofstra, 4
W&M, 0
Rest of CAA, 3.

Northeastern wins at Towson, 47-44. So Hofstra (9-4) moves a game ahead of the Tigers (8-5).
They can do the same with JMU (8-4), which trails, 43-42, at Charleston, with 8:21 left.
Elon down 82-80 at UNCW with :13 left.
Delaware got its first CAA win tonight, 69-60, over Drexel.

He's already tied his career-high of 25 pts, on 12/14 fg.
UPDATE: Up 81-70, with 5 1/2 left, Gustys picks up two fouls within 32 seconds and has to come out with 4 fouls. And now it's 81-75 with 4:21 left. The second foul was a bad offensive one where he just bowled the defender over. Has to know better there. This would be as bad or worse a loss than the others down the stretch recently. Gotta make some plays and hang on down the stretch here.
Guess what Wags we won...enough already!

Love it totally agree. We're up 11 with 2 to go and I'm still worried, justifiably

Read my later posts. When I posted the above at the time, it was fair, no? And as I said, I was rooting for them to make plays down the stretch to hang on.

Nice win on the road. Any win on the road in the CAA is good. Anyone have that link to the W&M board. Could use a good laugh tonite.

I was worried there for a moment. I was watching the game on Instant stats because my computer was not cooperating. One moment HU was up by 13. when I looked a few moments later the lead was only 6. I thought "here we go again". Good win. Very satisfying to take 2 from the Tribe.

Nice gritty win. I love beating W&M, we have a nice little rivalry going.

Great road win, love beating that school and sticking it to their fans. But this loss for them knocked them out of the top 50 RPI. They are at 54 now and HU has moved up to 69 with the win. Hopefully we will get an NIT bid if we falter in Baltimore. But that's for another day. We have more business to take care of in the conference.

The women were there watching since they look to do the same thing our men just did tomorrow, and they got to talk to Nancy Lieberman and take a picture with her. She knows JAM since her son, TJ Cline, was at Niagara with Green and Tanksley, but he also transferred when JAM came here.

Hofstra's starters scored at least 13 points each. Green raised his assists per game to exactly 7.

The bench got 28 minutes (14% of the team's total; 20 min. for Buie), however all but 4 of the 86 pts came from the 5 starters.

Nice all around win. Pretty balanced scoring. As you might expect, when Rok has a lot of points, JG has a lot of assists. They make a good combo.
AW looked fine on defense tonight, but played poorly at the other end. Had the ball three times right at the basket and did not score. Hope JM keeps putting him in there, as given enough PT, I think he'll come through.

Delaware drew a lot of fouls in their win over Drexel. Delaware attempted only 38 field goals, and made half of them. I found Hofstra's statistics going back to 2005-2006, which is 351 games, and the fewest field goal attempts by Hofstra in that time was 41.

Way to go fellas!!
Game was as tough and close as I expected this time, with the good guys coming out on top - bench may not have scored a lot tonight, bit they did their part with enough minutes to keep the key guys in position to win - I like JM going with Buie for D late in the game for BB is the situation calls for it - that's how you use your bench
Like I said, a must win for the COACHES, and they came through
Sounds BB had a solid all around game, JG doing his thing, and folks, HU has the best big man in the CAA - and it isn't even close. That is a really awesome feeling - something we've all been asking for for who knows how long - HU FINALLY has a quality big to compliment its guards - LOVE IT - keep going Rok, this is YOUR league bud, DOMINATE IT.
All I have to say to the little napoleons is...

That fanbase is getting exactly what they deserve.

http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400833343 is the Associated Press article titled "Hofstra uses second half surge to beat William & Mary 86-80." It has a mistake. Tanksley made 3 out of 4 free throws late (2 attempts with 1:26 left and 2 with 0:23 left). The article thinks Tarpey made 1 out of 2 free throws late, making it seem like he played for Hofstra. Tarpey didn't miss any free throws.
