Minimal coverage of the game by Newsday. Their daily St John’s story filled half the page, detailing Pitino’s decision to have his tuna sandwich on a roll instead of on rye bread.

So, was that a big enough margin of victory to satisfy some folks? :)

Agree but their coach had a very different take in his press conference...alluding to us and the CAA as "physical." That's basketball and as Joe Mihalich used to say, "The Tougher Team Wins." Kudos to Plotnikov who set the tone, the TRUE player of the Year Cruz and our bigs...now on to another tough test TOWSON>

Love it WAGS! So much for poor coaching and choking in big games as well....we brought HOME last night!

Just ridiculous! They couldn't even do the Cruz story like the Post did! F>>>>K 'Em we'll just keep winning then they'll jump on the bandwagon.

https://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/202 ... y-caa.html is Jerry Beach's "Keep It Perky: William & Mary (CAA Tournament quarterfinals)." It was not a unicorn score, but it was our first 92-61 win since we beat Wilkes College on on February 21, 1963.

Keep saying Newsday is a rag and to stop supporting them. I haven't bothered for more than a decade, maybe 2 at this point. That's something that HU leadership has to fix. Until then, I haven't registered or read a single 'article' (if that's what a blurb can even be called), and will not until they change.

Let's not get arrogant guys, that wasn't the title game. It can all be forgotten with a bomb tonight. This was a huge win, but it's only huge if HU takes care of business tonight too. The goal isn't a quarterfinal, it's the dance.

And yes, that is exactly the type of performance that this team needed to show, and frankly that it should be producing. They needed to make a statement, and they did. It was definitely unexpected, but it's also not some miracle - that's what they're supposed to be doing when you have the top talent vs a lower seed. And that's how the POY is supposed to be playing. Finally doing what they should be doing in the first game isn't exactly the time to be puffing out our chests. Simply take that W humbly all day and run, use it as ROCKET FUEL, and go 1-0 again tonight. Tough test ahead in what will likely be a battle. -->> 1-0

Keep this momentum going and finish the job - THEN, and ONLY then folks, we can run around with our chests out all day long!!

I think there's a typo in Hofstra's game summary. Shouldn't the headline read, "Hofstra CRUZES Past William & Mary In CAA Quarterfinals"?

Glad to hear that Pitino has switched from rye bread, but he should have gone with whole wheat. Much healthier. :)

As for Newsday, do they even KNOW that a local product is the CAA Rookie of the Year? As much as I dislike the NY Post, I have to give them credit for their local sports coverage.

Agreed. That was big game and they dominated. I absolutely loved seeing it. With that being said, we need to win two more games to get dancing. That’s what matters. Seat belts on boys. Let’s go!!!!
