Fair point Captain, having an eligable big may be a good safety net - a frosh or a Juco/Xfer guy that can give 2-3 yrs would be great. This transfer breakdown from ESPN is really good IMO. As expected, the W and CofC have some talent coming in:
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... 21-2021-22
Betley is one of the best immediate available, so despite that I agree a big should be the priority, if HU has a chance to bring him in you can bet they will - I don't know where the PT would come from, but he's a great fit for HU/JM. And w/that family Penn connection, even moreso.
IF we can get a big too, I would be all for it - an experienced solid all-around player like that could really help the team this year in some capacity. I don't think HU should take him
over a big, but we'll see what happens.
40. Ryan Betley, 6-5, 200 pounds, SG, Sr., Penn
Betley made his transfer plans known before the season but didn't enter the portal until the campaign ended. Averaged double figures all three healthy seasons with the Quakers, including 11.6 points and 5.8 rebounds this season.
I agree w/the cactus lineup - Coburn should be moved to the 3 this season where his size fits, and if Cramer isn't starting at the 4 I'm going to be very disappointed - lot of hype around him, it's go time.
At least 1-2 on this squad are going to need to redshirt... Bethea, Masic, Green, someone. And if they do, having PT for Betley may not be an issue.

Good list, Polito. I hope we're going after the Purdue guy.

How come there has been no discussions about Sean Durugordan the 3-star we recently offered?

No one probably picked up on it; I know I didn't. I usually only focus one class ahead. So right now was really only looking at 2020.
Would be great if we could land a 3 star recruit to headline our 2021 class. we will need to replace 2 key starters next year.
Here is his tweet announcing the offer:

Yes mainly because he's a 2021 recruit and there's a lot going on right now but he also has 13 offers according to V/C and probably actually more then that.

Yep, so seems like
we all think a big is the need, wondering if the staff does lol... last 2 in the running were wings. I'm not seeing any smoke around post guys right now, but that doesn't mean much, HU has a knack for staying low until the announcement, so we'll see.

It certainly appears that the staff is looking to recruit anyone but a big so maybe this will be our main focus for next year and hopefully we will get someone who will have years of eligibility. A person who will get some playing time next year but I'm confident that we know what we're doing so if the right player comes along now we'll sign him. There are players available for sure.

The 13th scholarship is probably the hardest to recruit for because by definition you would have the least amount of playing time to promise.

That could be a moot issue if you are talking about a redshirt candidate or someone who has to sit out due to transfer rules.

He's someone who could play the 4 and 5 and can shoot from distance. Would be hard to find a better player fit.

I’m not saying this kid couldn’t help us but where does his minutes come from? As a grad student he’s one and done. We have kids coming in that can play the 4 and really this kid has almost no stats to evaluate. He only played a few minutes a game in all his years playing college basketball. How do we access what he brings to the table?

Triple it sounds just like the kid who came from Purdue. He turned out ok!

Yes agree and there also was another kid named Zeke Upshaw with you here but HUSID where will his minutes come from? We brought Taylor in to start but this kid he would just be coming off the bench. Are you suggesting that he would come in for Kante and take Schutte 8 minutes? OK he could get some minutes at the 4 I just don't know where that would leave Green/Cramer. IMO we should get a kid who has at least a few years of eligibility and redshirt him. If he's a transfer he'll have to sit out anyway assuming he's not a grad student. Let him play next year when Kante is a senior then he'll be ready to get substantial minutes the following year. I'm not privy to what the staff is looking for but it appears that they're not chasing bigs. We all know that could change quickly if the right kid becomes available.

This guy does sound like he's looking for an increased role, which he will not find here. I would def take him though, fits the bill of everything needed - has some P5 experience, has excellent size for the position, could provide D and rebounding, etc.
I doubt he ends at HU though - may even end up back at MD.
HU doesn't have a lot of PT to give, that is true, so the player options will be limited, as they should be. But frankly I'm more concerned with who is going to practice against Kante to help him get better??
It's def not Schutte, he's not going to make Kante better in any way - vice versa actually. Kante needs someone who is experienced, older, used to banging low against other quality post players, even if his role was also practice squad. HU needs some practice talent as well, esp in the post.

Piggybacking of tc and many of our thoughts, the staff continues to pursue guards - doesn't look like they share our post desires lol

I wonder... is there any movement expected in the current guard rotation to warrant this clear effort? This staff apparently
really wants another guard / wing...

Today we offered William Felton a 6'9" PF from N Carolina this might be our gameplan for next year with nobody knowing what will happen to our open scholly for this year. Take note he already has an offer from UNCW. Here's you tube on him;
