Holy smokes, BIG GET. I am impressed with this one, this kid is a baller. Flat out scoring machine. And low and behold, he's not some wannabe '3-point specialist', but an actual attack the basket guard with college size and strength - perfect WG type at 6'4/6'5. Plays above the rim, takes contact and draws fouls, and yes can still hit the 3 when needed. This program desperately needs guys like this who are skilled and confident enough to successfully drive the lane. Give me more!! And for the love of all, don't get him here and force him to become something he isn't - let this kid be the best version of exactly the kind of player he is right now.
Top 10 NY player, top 200 in the country, a legit 4 star, this is honestly one of the best recruits on paper ever for HU. But have to say his film is also legit. And even better, he's a real gritty NYC guard from a strong PSAL program. Love me the wings - the X factors in college. Kudos Speedy & Co!!
He should play early and make an impact, just like Edmead. No more holding guys back, not the game today. Our opportunity is to come in and play right away and make your name so you can elevate. Turn this stud into a star within 2 years, get him mega paid at a top P4 program, sell that dream to the next one. That is the formula for HU. Become THE mid major pipeline - I'll gladly take that all day in this new world.

So if we have to be the prep school for all these big schools legislation should be passed so schools like us who get poached receive proper compensation for all our time and money. Wonder if this could ever happen?

triplec, nice idead but the Power Five and their puppet the NCAA will never let it happen.
The NCAA is in business to placate the Power Five because that's where the money is.

Bringing this kid on, is there a chance Hofstra has an actual NIL donor? Incredible money has come through this school, but how many are big time sports fans? Give us just one, for the love of god.

There are others who choose not to blow their horns like Metzger, who quietly are putting money in.
Also don't foregt we are playing at least four guarantee games; perhaps Hofstra is letting that money go to NIL.

If we have close to a 900 million endowment there's plenty of money coming in from a lot of people. The question is how many donors will earmark donations for sports?

First NET Rankings of the season came out this morning.... Hofstra sitting at 106. We're 0-1 against quad 1 (UCF), 1-2 against quad 3 (Penn, Iona and Temple), and 3-0 vs quad 4 (La Salle, Merrimack, and Bucknell).
Fwiw we're currently 3rd best CAA team behind William and Mary (71) and UNCW (101).

If it's not, that's not right, particularly with a big enough endowment to fund other areas in the university. That guarantee game money is earned through basketball, it should be going back into the basketball program rather than elsewhere.

The basketball (and all sports) teams should be able to keep their own money, but we don't get to see the financial records. I'll say what somebody here speculated about using made-up numbers. Hofstra keeps the basketball budget at $10 million per year. Let's say one year basketball makes $3 million, so it is given $7 million more. Let's say the next year basketball makes $5 million, so it is given $5 million more. You can't say the university is steaing from basketball because basketball is given money, but basketball has the same budget regardless of how much it makes unless it makes over $10 million. I am not saying that is what happens, but it is what somebody here speculated about before NIL existed.

The CAA is 10th. The last time the CAA finished in the top ten in NET (or RPI before the NET existed) was when the CAA was 9th in 2015-2016. Conference USA is in a very disappointing 17th after being 8th last season. Delaware is 266th in the NET, and ninth of twelve Conference USA teams. They moved because of Football, but they probably expected Conference USA to be better than the CAA in Men's Basketball. Delaware is 2-4, and they are 2-2 against teams in the 300s or non-Division I, including a 71-62 loss hosting non-Division I Wilmington (Delaware). They have a chance for their best win now, as they are hosting Iona.
Davis leads Division I with 38.0 minutes per game, and Towson's Tyler Tejada in fifth and Monmouth's Jack Collins in sixth give the CAA half of the top six.
