- Policelli and starter Kaine Roberts both in portal from Stony Brook

- NC A&T lost their 2 leading scorers Kam Woods and Marcus Watson, and their best freshman Duncan Powell

- Uncw lost a starter in Jamari Thomas

- Monmouth lost their best player Myles Foster

- William and Mary lost their best big Ben Wight

- And of course Timberlake and Nelson Jr gone too (would think they both have Cam Wynter like roles on power 5 teams next yr)

Charleston and Drexel haven't lost anyone super notable to date

Good for Hofstra - not for CAA
So true, ZMAN, so true.

Aidan Igiehon, another big man with local connections (Brooklyn and Lawrence Woodmere Academy), is in the portal:

I mentioned Zion Bethea the other day. Don't know why he left us. I wonder if he would/could return, and if the team would want him back?

As a RFR, he averaged 10 ppg at St. Francis and shot 42% from the arc, which would have led our team. Big body (6-4, 200), like Amar'e Marshall, and has three years of eligibility.

Nice list of suitors:

St. Bonaventure
Santa Clara
Detroit
East Carolina
Minnesota
Oregon St
Rider
FGCU
UMBC
Ball St
UIC
Cal St. Bakersfield
Pacific
BU
Delaware
SEMO
UMES
Gardner Webb
App St
MSM
Delaware St
Denver

Do u think there's any returning once you leave? This would be unprecedented here for sure and I would think we have better options. He played in 28 games and started 1 getting 22 minutes.

There’s always a first time. He got a chance to play at St. Francis and showed what he can do.

I know his father passed away when he was here, so maybe he had personal reasons for wanting to be closer to home or something like that.

He probably wants to playat a higher level, but he would be sure to get minutes here. Just saying ….

Yes he would get minutes off the bench and he has good size but don't know what he would give us defensively. Yes there was drama when he was here including his dad passing and he was injured quite a bit. Speedy has made it know that D is the key and we're now playing a lot of in your face man to man and it has paid off. Anybodyy we bring in has to buy into working their butt off on the defensive end.

Guard Isaiah Stafford, who just helped deliver John A. Logan's first ever NJCAA title (look, CAA in there :)) two days ago, received an offer from HU.

Is there any team in the CAA losing more top end talent than Towson (IF Thomas does indeed stay)? Cam Holden just announced on Twitter than he's going pro, of course Timberlake already in the portal. And Timberlake is getting a house visit from Pitino today, wouldn't that be something if he wound up in our backyard. A lot of other high majors reportedly interested in Timberlake too.

Also speaking of Thomas, not sure if anyone saw that his younger brother Tanner entered the portal last week. He's 6'6, listed as a forward. Averaged 6.9 pts and 4.6 reb in 20 min off the bench as a soph for Sacred Heart this year. Wonder if hofstra reaches out, esp if it would sweeten pot for Tyler to stay

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pl ... nes-1.html is for Jaylen Fornes, who played for UNCW from 2016-2017 through 2018-2019, transferred to Nicholls State with a redshirt season followed by playing in 2020-2021, and finished at UNCW in 2021-2022. He scored 976 points for UNCW.

I see a player named Perry Smith Jr who has transferred from Vermont in the portal that's. 6'9 225. He got almost 10 minutes a game as a freshman and scored 2 points a game. A three star recruit from S Carolina. Does anyone remember whether we recruited him since his name sounds very familiar to me?

Sometimes I answer my own questions lol but here's a twitter post when Smith narrowed his college selection down to 8 schools one of which was HU. Surprisingly somehow he wound up at Vermont. We should be going hard after this kid Top 5 player coming out of S Carolina last year. https://www.si.com/college/bostoncolleg ... -top-eight

Verbal Commits now lists 1055 transfers on the list and I don't think that includes the 100 or so who announced today!

This is NUTS! Will destroy college basketball...can't build a program with kids flying all over the place!

Will hurt some schools but clearly has helped others such as HU where we benefited with good players last year especially Tyler Thomas.

Lots of players to choose from. Wonder what the NIL expectation level is for some players.
There should be players that don't command the upper levels of $.
As far as Perry Smith goes, his role diminished greatly at the end of the year. Both he and another PF frosh at Vermont are exiting.
Princeton has 3 players in the portal, 2 bigs (Kellman and the 6'9" point forward Tosan) as well as Ryan Langborg the 6"4" guard.
Wading thru the portal and getting the right kids is an awesome task.
Looking at San Diego State they are built like most Towson teams with some real bruisers on the floor. Landing a power forward who crashes the boards would be a novelty for us.

Right on cue, Hofstra is one of the many teams that's reportedly reached out to Kellman. He actually had his best game of the season against us in the season opener, scoring 21 pts on 9-9 shooting.

Came across this interesting page about MBB transfers. It lists the top 225 players in the portal, according to "AD Jeff."

https://theresourcenexus.com/transfer-p ... asketball/

A few names we know:

31 Posh Alexander (St. John's)
54 Walter Clayton (Iona)
55 Nelly Junior Joseph (Iona)
63 Jameer Nelson, Jr. (UD)
99 Al Storrs (St. John's)
140 Nicolas Timberlake (Towson)
144 Omar Silverio (committed to WVU)
150 Keeshawn Kellman (Princeton)
156 Sean Durugordon (Austin Peay)
177 Daniel Ortiz (N. Alabama)
186 Frankie Policelli (Stony Brook)
188 Quinn Slazinski (Iona)

Don't click on the player links on thesourcenexus.com. There may be a virus issue.

*****

The page also has a few player summaries:

Jameer Nelson: He seems a little low on the surface but the numbers came vs a poor SOS. 20.6ppg on .556 true shooting is still pretty strong regardless. The problem is he’s only .307% from three and a career 31% player at 6-1 isn’t ideal. I question could he get to the line as much moving back up which is where his value came from. He was at George Washington previously (10ppg 12.6 PER). Son of a former NBA All Star.

Nicolas Timberlake: The CAA was down this year and he really didn’t up the efficiency. He’s a great outside shooter with size and played big on a top 75 Towson team in 2021-22, he just doesn’t seem to do much else if you are looking for upside. He fits anywhere.

Zion Bethea and teammate Landon Moore are listed under the heading "Top Freshman Transfers" and Omar Silverio is listed as a "Top Commit."

I saw this today about Tyler's younger brother and YES WE HAVE ALREADY REACHED OUT. He has respectable numbers for playing 20 minutes a game. 6'6 and has a perimeter game. https://twitter.com/search?q=tanner%20t ... yped_query
