Watched every Nova game this season (kids are Nova grads and big fans). Pierce will be a good center for CoC but he is not a stud. Granted he is young and still learning, but he is not a real athletic guy. I dont think he's as good as the center CoC lost ( the Clemson transfer). As always.... we shall see.

Here's an update on several of the players who GuardU identified:

https://x.com/i/status/2042258354349690902

Braden Pierce (Nova) --> Charleston

Jay Rodgers (CCSU) --> Penn State

CJ Beaumont (SHSU) --> Kennesaw State (GA)

Jaquay Randolph (6-10, 240). I believe he is still available. Jaquay averaged 21 ppg and 15 rpg at D2 Southern Wesleyan University (SC). He would pair up nicely with Imanuel Zorgvol:

Tom Rock of Newsday is reporting that we have a commitment from JUCO center Riley Dunn a 7' Australian. He scored 4 points a game playing around 14 minutes. Also showed some 3 point stats for him but I'm sure at 4 pg he didn't shoot much from there. Stats show him getting 4 boards and shooting FT's over 81%.
As
@HofstraMBB
rebuilds after losing the core of its Tourney team to the transfer portal I’m told it has commitments from Gs Justin Moore & Deywilk Tavarez from Loyola (and both with CAA exp. at Drexel & Charleston) along w 7’ers Imanuel Zorgvol (Y’twn St) & Riley Dunn (Monroe).

According to Verbal Commits Dunn also had offers from Stony Brook and Manhattan (though showing all 3 offers to him being from summer of '25). I think you may have been looking at his freshman year stats, seeing 7ppg and 8 reb/g last year for him (in about 25 min a game). He was 5-17 from 3 so yeah not reading anything into that.

Can't say I'm at all familiar with the JUCO level, so do we think this guy is our 3rd depth C or expecting him to be the 1a to Zorg?

Looks like a back up center probably our third center on the team
Look for them to make a bigger splash at the center position

Yeah he sure sounds like an Alex Tsynkevich replacement.

Thanks for the updated stats dutchPride I like those stats better. Seeing that these trees are in big demand he could very well be the backup to Zorgvol. We'll see what transpires here but hope we land a least one more power forward to share time with Decady. I know guards we will get there are a lot of them out there.

Dunn's stats for this past year also show that he had 41 blocks and 30 assists in 27 games. The more you look at these stats the more you like him maybe being the backup center. Shooting 29% from three is interesting because he would have to be guarded from beyond the perimeter if he improves on those numbers.

I believe we were looking at the Aussie a year ago.
Staff knows him for a while.

Is another year of Biggie Patterson a possibility?

Let's gooooooo boys, loving this - excellent pickup - definitely of backup mold, but a very solid one - and remember, this team has to have a practice squad too that can help sharpen the iron - we need quality depth, and he looks the part

Man, there was a time not long ago that landing A 7 footer was deemed a near impossibility for a program like this - we have come a long way - and I agree with Stu, want to see one more - Dunn is likely in the 200-210 range, so I'd like a 6'10+ bigger body that can bring the pain in the paint - he'll still need athleticism, so let's say around 230

This is where a guy like Jaquay Randolph or similar build hits the mark for me - double-double type player with a defensive presence that can still get up and down the floor at 240 - good handle and can legit hit the 3 - he would be a huge get if possible - or someone of like level please

And so yes, I think the Juco route remains a strong option for an HU, it's not going to get the same attention anymore from the powers so it's more open for mids, just like HS recruiting.

This staff is putting in WORK and I'm here for it man - loving what I'm seeing - I think these guys are actively applying some lessons learned

- Rebuilding nearly an entire roster we need to move quickly to get the team set and start the process much earlier than in the past. This feels like the fastest we've ever put a team together - wasting no time and it's a wise approach.
- Saw clearly that we need to be big and athletic, and we are going after and landing both across the board - addressing our gaps.
- Also establishing an 'older' team that has well-seasoned experience - this is key because there is no more 3 year rebuild - it's 1 year at a time, and you have to get it done in 1 or start over. Correct strategy.

Get that stud C/PF and still want a couple of G/W guys

Strangely enough, new eligibility rules coming down the pike in the near future would, I believe, allow Silas Sunday and Biggie Patterson one more year of eligibility. There is a possibility the could be back at Hofstra if they decide the want one more year of college play. Any thoughts?

I’d 100% take both. Silas had a lot of HUGE moments for us this year - and his progression year over year is some of the best I’ve seen. Biggie was a huge spark as well, especially off the bench.

Man I would take Biggie back in a NY minute - that guy is unique and going to be hard to replace. Wouldn't say no to Silas either of course, 'unhung hero' as mentioned throughout the season. But I'm pretty doubtful that comes to pass, even with any eligibility changes. Who knows though...

Oh, also, DP86, to follow up regarding Lopez - so it's definitely a 'risk' on my part as you're totally right on him being out of the game for a bit, but he was brought here for a reason and has had a lot of staff hype. I think he's of the mold to be turned into a star under Speedy - in fact, he was going to be the Preston before Preston lol.

He'll have to prove it on the floor and show he's coming back in full form post injury - if he's fully healthy and shakes off the cobwebs, he's got the goods IMO.

But I'm very happy to have these other guys in the fold as there is absolutely a chance he doesn't have "it" coming back. But I do believe the staff is very high on him (as am I) and he's marked for a breakout as he's been waiting patiently in the wings to be 'the guy'.

If you think things have been crazy so far, pandemonium will break out if they implement the 5x5 rule this far into the process.

Athletes get exactly five years of eligibility to compete for five seasons, no redshirts, five year clock starts upon high school graduation or turning 19, lots of seniors would suddenly be eligible again.

Riley Dunn highlights; https://x.com/DunnRiley3/status/2037549 ... 97/video/1

This guy not only puts it on the floor but has a mid range game. He could be a lot better then we thought?

Hmmm,…IF we get Silas for another year, we’d have three seven-footers on the roster. That would be a Hofstra record right there.
