Think 2 1/2 - he'd be able to play the start of the CAA conference play in 2018 (then play 2018/19 and 2019/20)

Here is video of Carter during his freshman season. Very interesting to hear him say how he loves Marquette and he wouldn't do anything differently in terms of choosing a college ---- of course he has since left the school.
No Doubt - there is lots of talent

Per Marquette boards, Traci is the consummate Philly PG:
- Tough as nails
- Natural playmaker
- Excellent defender (esp 3 ball)
- Superb ball handler
- Assist machine
- Pure PG
- Great attitude and work ethic
Most fans were sorry to see him go, and wish him well (speaks to a good rep at least). Two knocks on him are that he can be overaggressive on D and commit foolish fouls, and can be prone to turnovers (also sounds related to aggressiveness). I think those things can improve with maturity and continued development. This program needs leadership and a killer mentality on the court - this studs pluses could be exactly that.
Every other bigger Philly program is done with PG's and 'ships. This is truly a PERFECT fit for both sides. I like, and I want, and I think he's HU's guy to land.
And catching up from older posts, the former Siena guard / Juco xfer IMO would be Kenny Wormley - as noted, currently at Indian Hills playing alongside another familiar fella / HU recruit named Jamel Allen, a WF formerly of Brentwood and a previous Iona commit...
Would imagine HU's contact with him also lead to noticing Wormley... real solid PG, could do very well here, so I would also be happy to have him.
But for the moment, if this staff likes Traci and believes in his ability, character, and fit here, I take him in a hearbeat. He and Buie would anchor HU for the next couple of years, and make each other better in the process. LET'S GO JM & Co., ROLLPRIDE baby, and roll out the red carpet for the next HU star guard!!

One Iona fan in their board must be nervous about us potentially getting Carter, he said that Cluess should remind him that we've never made the NCAA tournament

considered Cluess is a Hofstra alum, he definitely knows better and wouldn't give a recruit wrong information, especially when Carter will literally see our history plastered on the walls of the practice facility as well as the timelines and photos in the Mack.

Why pick Iona unless its an academic issue...we have a BETTER school, conference, better gym, a Practice facility, better campus...I could go on...if he chooses Iona something is wrong!

Agree 100% - Iona can be a great landing spot for certain transfers, but I just do not see that with this one. Only exception is if his grades are absolutely horrific, and I do not believe that is the case based upon the MU feedback and the below:
Per Zags ODU, La Salle, and Duquesne have also contacted. None of those are Harvard, but solid enough academic institutions.
- Don't see the draw or fit with Duquesne at all.
- Normally I would call La Salle a lock for him, but I just don't see the fit for PT. They already have a couple of good young points, and signed a top PG in Moultrie.
- ODU might actually have a need - not sure if it's a fit, but there may be PT there, so could be a potential threat.
I can guarantee Mr. Carter wants big PT, and he wants it immediately. Top priorities for him are 1) Get closer to family/Philly and 2) Land in a quality program with immediate significant PT ready and waiting. And they're probably both even in importance.
I maintain HU is the PERFECT fit for this particular situation. Not only major PT available, HU runs a fantastic offense/system that depends 100% on PG play, and therefore showcases the position/player. AND the last 3 starting PG's have been transfers (Nesmith, Green, Powers) = proven success.
Show this young man the works.

PS:
Ray put up 19pts, 7rbs (<-6'1!), and 3stls in a win against a very good D1 lead Norcom team that has Ingram (former HU recruit going to Ark St) and Davis (ECU)
Hampton just destroyed their last opponent by like 64 or something nutty - still trying to get stats
They have 1 or 2 losses, but playing very well, and Ray is without a doubt the best player/leader on that team, which is pretty stacked with D1's in it's own right. Not sure he is the best player in the
state factoring in Oak Hill and their unfair talent lol, but IMO he is top 10-15 in a LOADED VA.
Kid is a
b a l l e r and he is still tagged with Hofstra so hopefully all works out as expected. Can be a major impact... very exciting future.
And he's more of a scoring guard than a point, so all the more reason for Carter to land here and combine forces with the stud scorers HU continues to reel in

JAM's been doing a lot of recruiting in the Cheshire, CT area. Perhaps looking at one or more of Pemba's former teammates.
And as far as Iona goes, they're likely able to get so many transfers because they have such low admissions standards. Last I checked, their acceptance rate was close to 90%, which is embarrassingly bad. Plus, at a lot of schools it's easier for athletes to get in. Many JUCO players don't get into other school, buts it's a lot easier to get into Iona. Marquette is a good school though, so I assume Carter would be have any trouble getting into Hofstra. I

Oooohhh PoP you know I love me some juicy recruiting sleuthing, and that one is delicious
Would LOVE for it to be future NBA draftee 7'2 Chol Marial!!
But betting it's a young fella up there with hoops pedigree in his blood originally from the basketball crazed state of Indiana - 6'5 guard named Jairus Stevens - certainly in the wing mold, but I'm wondering if Cheshire has been using him as a big athletic PG at times as well, adding to the HU interest...
Anyhoo, he checks off a lot of the JM signatures: handles the rock, creates his own shot, can attack the basket, has deeeep range, quick hands, and can get up and down the court in transition. Still pretty under-recruited IMO - playing well at Cheshire this year, against a strong schedule - we shall see...
And trust me, most of us are well aware of Iona's ability to take in any mammal that walks on 2 feet and can put a ball through a hoop. Not breaking news there

, although I do very much appreciate seeing the actual numbers - it's a JOKE.
They are way too small to have any 'bag men' of significance, so it is pretty obvious that their success is highly correlated to the fact they can and will take in ANYONE on the transfer market, and can likely accept any and all classes/credits as well, making the transition (and continuation) for an athlete easy as pie.
God bless them - it has clearly benefited their program and they've taken full advantage. Would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit jealous of their recent NCAAT appearances. But I have made the mental note in my head years ago that I won't be looking to connect with many of their alumni in our business / finance circles, that's for sure.
I know HU isn't ivy by any stretch, but I'll take my HU connections and networks any day of the week. It's a solid education, and a helluva competitive environment, both in the classroom and out in the social realm. You either learn to step up your entire game in all facets and get after life with fire and passion, or you won't last long there. Taught me the necessary ambition level to obtain true success in life, and frankly has produced some extremely fruitful relationships, rewards, benefits, finances, opportunities, business, etc., akin to a much higher level institution, and it's honestly just the beginning!

Mr Carter was def on site, caught him and a coach former star PG chatting it up after the game
This possibility has me straight salivating - this young man can be a game-changer for HU in terms of being a true floor general - has the real ability to lead the league in assists his remaining time here
To me, in this O system, and with the athletes and scorers HU continues to bring in, it's a super scenario for a true point who loves to dish the rock, who wants major immediate PT, and who relishes being in the 'spotlight' of the team/program. And for the team, they could see a complete turnaround in ball distribution which would help them all produce at the level we are expecting, across the board from Rok to Pemba.
That is ALL here - it is a PERFECT fit.
Let's do this Traci - HU staff,
make it so - ROLLPRIDE!

Don't get too excited, Polito. This team needs a lot more than just another PG.

I agree jojo - although the key is really the PG slot. Going forward (next season), I do have confidence that JWF, EP, and RG, will be fine. I am not comfortable with the 4 spot. Right now I think we are definitely undersized and inconsistent. Need a guy more in the Koons mold, a little bigger and stonger who can still hit the 3.
We are very small this year and bringing in JR and possibly TC wont change that!!

Oh absolutely and agreed Jojo, but that does not temper my excitement one bit, and shouldn't for anyone else either - the #1 need of this team is true leader PG, period. That is THE most important position of this entire system.
It's a HUGE impact - and this young man is talented enough and of the right mold to help lead this program in the way it needs to win.

AND he plays strong D - known as one of if not the best defensive player on the MU roster.
The need and fit at HU is 100%. This is a must-fill gap - #1 need and he's a #1 target. Get this young man here Speedy & Co.!

Iona's Soph guards that will still be on the roster (as upper classmen no less) when Traci is eligble one just dropped 27 points and the other had *14* assists in their last game.
I maintain, there is zero PT there for him, and for once in this transfer case, they are simply not the right fit. This case is so right for HU it isn't even funny.
REALLY hoping to hear some great news very soon - HU should be in great shape, as long as La Salle doesn't get aggressive !
