Dig it for sure, not having to go to those 2 is quite huge - CofC is of course tough, but that's a more than fair trade-off in my book.

A potential tournament hosted by HU is juicy and exciting, if it is at all a possibility this season - it would likely be a few low majors but it would at least be something / a starting point vs nothing. And Vermont would be awesome as one of them. Hope it's all true!

At the very least, we absolutely need to be in a season tourney, so whether we host or attend, it's a plus.

Really like the Bucknell home game too, that's a solid mid major matchup. We do still need a LOT more info on OOC games, still a big slate to fill!

If we host the tournament will it be at Hofstra or do we go the the Nassau coliseum or EAB center in Elmont

To Mickey77:Please check the D1 Docket date on the LSU game. It is listed for Saturday, December 5th. All the HU games have not been placed in a date sequence. To Stuball888: The Islanders play Winnipeg at UBS Arena on Friday, November 27th at 7:30. There is also a concert scheduled for Saturday, November 28th. That eliminates that venue. I could not find any events for the Coliseum for that Thanksgiving Weekend. If this MTE goes through, it will probably be at the Mack Arena.

When we played Seton Hall at the coliseum, fans were pretty scarce (and that was against a big east opponent). Can't imagine we would book there again unless we knew a good turnout was in order.

Cards, I agree with you. Why spend all that money to rent the Nassau Coliseum for three days over the Thanksgiving holiday when many fans would be busy with family activities, Black Friday Shopping, etc.. No disrespect to Vermont, but most local fans do not realize what a very good program the Catamounts have been for many seasons. Also, we do not know what other colleges may be involved in this MTE.

Another game on our schedule per Jon Rothstein...playing Murray State in Mississippi. They've been a quality mid major for a while now, moved up to MVC a couple years ago. Would love to see a couple more power conference games like LSU but no problem with opponents like Vermont and Murray St

Yes played at Jackson State in 2014-15 season.

Thx. I recall that Hofstra beat Ole Miss in 1990, but think it was at a neutral site the location of which beats me.

Ha! Found it. The Mississippi game was in Deland, Florida. So the Jackson State game is likely the only appearance in Mississippi.

Riddle of the day - What mbb program has made march madness the last 5 years in a row?? Could one of these be a non-conf opponent this season??

Michigan State, Gonzaga, Purdue, Kansas, Houston

Prior years we played Houston and Purdue … Gonzaga would be cool

I'm VERY happy with any of those 5! One of those and KSU is a nice 1-2 punch as an anchor for our OOC. Hopefully more to come.

These schools and many other power programs have made it far more than five seasons in a row. Duke however did not make NCAAs in 2021 so for them it literally is five years although doubt we would be playing them again so soon after our December 2023 appearance.

Let's hope it goes way better than the last time (a 76-48 drubbing in Nov. 2022)... also, how is that already almost four years ago?! Where does the time go?!
