Wags wrote: Everyone basically cancelled each other out scoring-wise in the first meeting (Eli 26/Riller 24, JWF/Brantley 19 each, Taylor/Galloway 16 each, and so on). The difference after all of that was Ray's 14 points in a 14-point win. Might need Ray again or someone else (like Coburn? Or Buie?) to do that again tomorrow.
Sure enough, in that first half:

Brantley (12) and JWF (11) about even.
Riller (14) and Pemberton (13) about even.

But the big difference: Coburn (12) the only other player with more than 4 pts in an 8-point game... he's starting to really develop as a big 3-pt threat, with the 7/8 in the first half from 3 at home against Elon and tonight, the 4/7 from 3 in the first half. If they have that, along with JWF, Eli, Buie and Taylor, wow they're tough to stop.

Charleston deserves to lose for wearing grey at home.

43-35. Good half, shot very well, our bigs are in foul trouble, but ST stepped up again and gave us some quality minutes inside. This is a better matchup for him compared to Dwyer as Brantley is a little undersized, but very skilled/athletic, and likes to move with the ball.

We have to get in the paint more in the second half, but we're moving the ball pretty well, and getting lots of open looks. If they switch to man, Pemba and JWF will attack and I feel good about our chances.

Concerned about JT 2 fouls and MD 3 fouls.

We lead 43-35. We led 21-15 before JWF scored. He had half of our last 22 points to be third on us with 11. Pemberton has 13 points with great shooting as he made 2 of 3 threes, 2 of 3 twos, and 3 of 4 free throws. Coburn has made 4 of 7 threes and not attempted any other shots. He has 12 points and his tied for our lead with 4 rebounds. Buie made his first field goal, which was a three, but hasn't scored since. He has 7 assists without a turnover. Our other assists were 1 by JWF and Pemberton. Taylor was subbed out after his second foul with 7:43 left. He missed his only field goal and hasn't scored. He has 4 rebounds and 1 block. The minutes in the statistics are wrong, and the log for Pemberton says he had a rebound and an assist while on the bench. Dwyer made his only field goal, but he has as many fouls (3) as points (2) and rebounds (1) combined. Trueheart has 1 block and 1 foul without attempting a shot. Ray didn't attempt a free throw. He made both free throws, and his other number that isn't 0 is 1 foul.

Riller leads all scorers with 14, but he has only 1 assist, and Charleston only has 2 assists. Brantley has 12 points but didn't shoot well. He leads all players with 7 rebounds, and he has their other assist. Nick Harris (4), Zep Jasper (3), and Marquise Pointer (2) have their other points. Their second leading scorer, Brevin Galloway, committed his second foul 4:45 in, was subbed out before he scored, and didn't return. Riller, Galloway, Pointer, and Miller (who hasn't attempted a shot) have 2 fouls each for Charleston. Brantley averages 2.8 fouls, but he doesn't have any.

At a media timeout with 15:34 left, Riller had 29 points, made 12 of 15 field goals, and was on pace to score 47. His pace went down a little in the last few seconds.

He is slow and does not do much that will knock your socks off - but Dwyer when on the court is USUALLY a plus (when looking at the plus/minus stat) - but he does just enough.
He is sub - that eats minutes - I am not saying I am comfortable with him in crunch time but we have to give him credit for what he is - not for what he isn't.

Unbelievable!! CRUSHING Charleston, 81-57! 19 straight points! JWF's 30 offsetting Riller's 32.

Looking like they could score 100 tonight.

Team is putting on a S H O W. Against a talented top 3 CAA squad. On their floor.

This is called answering the bell to say the least.

Riller became the second player in Charleston history and first since they moved up to Division I to have at least ten career 30 point games. I wanted to check the last time Charleston allowed 100 points, and I'm mad that their Game Notes don't have a "The Last Time It Happened..." like Hofstra has on Page 14.

Just as I say that - Buie gives him a nice dump off pass that he wasn't ready for - ahhhhh!

40 for Riller, 11 point game, we are a terrible defensive team.

That's pretty strong. Riller is one of the best in the league. Brantley is no slouch either. They have 60 of Charleston's 79. No one else stops those too, either. And Charleston isn't stopping JWF, either. No one else on Charleston is doing anything. Hofstra's defense has been pretty solid most of the season.

CofC on a little run, but IMO only because HU has missed a few layups (some contested, but should've made them), a little sloppy as well - HU is the better team this year.

Will say again Riller is a flat out baller - boy can play. Will also say again he should take 75% of their shots LOL let Brantley do the rest :)

But HU just needs to tighten up a bit here, CofC has some talent, but I'm confident now seeing both games HU is the better squad - said earlier in the year that I don't see CofC winning the CAA. Still confident in that. BUT they can DEF knock somebody out of the way to help HU.

That said, I want Ray to put a LOT of work in the offseason - ton of potential, but he needs to work on his game - finishing, defense, etc. He's not going to be able to just pass to JWF next year, he's going to fill that spot. Some great exp for him this year, he needs to build on this and take a LARGE step up next season.

Good points - but also need HU to stay in attach mode on O - they are freezing themselves out and taking bad shots with the clock expiring.
