Was just looking at this again today. I think it was late anyway, but Tejada's final shot was really close, especially for such a rushed, long shot: https://x.com/JonathanJWagner/status/20 ... 1402237280

Glad it worked out how it did, but it would've been fitting had that Tejada shot gone in and counted and they kept going a few more OTs (with a Hofstra win). It was the most even game I think I had ever seen. Seemingly, every time one team got a bucket, the other did, or every time one team got a stop, the other did. Nine ties, 10 lead changes, every possession valued so much by both teams. Towson never led by more than four, Hofstra never by more than 6. They didn't count Tejada's last heave as a FGA (I think they do the same on those as with the NBA now, to not hurt FG%'s). So, Edmead's game-winner was the last official FGA, and before that, both teams were an identical 23/62 from the floor. Doesn't get much more even than all of that.

That semis loss to W&M in 2015, in Baltimore, was like that too - extremely even, tense, entertaining. That forever haunts me. I think they would have beaten Northeastern in the finals and did what Delaware would do seven years later: win it all as a 5 seed. And then the finals loss in OT to UNCW the next year. They really could have won in it all back-to-back, in 2015 and 2016.

The red light was on before he even landed much less started his shooting motion so it definitely would not have counted anyway. As far as another OT, the fact that Cruz had already fouled out would have obviously given Towson a big advantage, thus making Preston's shot one of the biggest in Hofstra history. At least in my opinion, only thing that would have made it better is if we were down 2.

Yeah, it was definitely late (he got it off real quick but can't catch, land, jump and shoot in only :00.3) but even though it was, I didn't realize how close that shot came (off the heel). And yeah, would've been tough without Cruz. Just saying with how even that game was throughout (oh, also 28-27, Towson in the 1st half and 28-27, Hofstra in the second half), it deserved 3, 4, 5 OTs. But yeah, it worked out best for Hofstra the way it happened.

So the latest bracket revision from The Athletic has #13 HU versus #4 Kansas in Philadelphia. The winner gets the victor of #5 St. John's versus #12 Yale.
