I was going to comment on this but thought u were referring to P5 D1 schools. When will we get UCLA at the Mack? I'm sure they would love to come to Hempstead to pound us on our own homecourt, lol!!

Arkansas is playing now on one of the ESPN channels - it's listed as ESPNW, whichever ESPN station that is (Channel 216 if you have Optimum).
Razorbacks up 26-11 on Kansas State after about 11 1/2 minutes in the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City.
Arkansas hosts Hofstra on 12/18 and Elon on 12/21.

What do you think is going to happen in the HU game wags? You think we should check out Arkansas to see how HU matches up to grab a top 25 W?
just messing with ya - I'm actually in western Kansas and watching them on TV now haha - I'm prepared for another L, as we should all be!

Arkansas likes to pressure a lot. HU better handle that a lot better than they did the last 8 1/2 minutes of regulation in Houston if they're going to stay in it.

They do, strong suffocating D from what I see too - seem to like to attack the basket as well - no one should be fooled by this HU team anymore - prepare to be humbled again in that game.
As would be expected against a ranked team - unfortunately HU isn't winning the non ranked either - thankfully have Molloy next which we have to assume is going to be a chance to settle down and get a win easily (??) - I think they will on pure talent and D alone.
Then 4 mid major matchups - I think that's where we find out what this team is really going to be for the majority of the year until the CAAT when things start fresh. Detroit is 0-4 with HU next, Princeton is 4-1 with 2 to go before HU, Bucknell is 1-3 with 4 to go before HU, SBU is 1-2 with 4 to go before HU.
Detroit, Bucknell, and SBU can be possible wins, but all are tossups really, and Princeton looks fantastic. They already have wins over THREE P5 teams - for all this silly sunshine pumping justifying losses, that's a mid major actually winning - Rutgers, South Carolina, and Oregon St, with a double OT loss to Minnesota - yeah, THAT'S a mid worthy of attention, not this 'almost' nonsense. Seems a likely very tough game for HU.
Then what better be a blowout easy W against John Jay, then an L at Arkansas, and a final OOC game against a challenging mid in Monmouth who is 3-1 with 8 to go before HU, with some tough P5's in there (and therefore some L's)
Overall, certainly not feeling great right now about this squad - but there are opps to right the ship. IF, big IF, HU can go on 'win streak' against those mids, then they give themselves a shot to start CAA play with some positive momentum. I'm highly skeptical, but it's absolutely doable.

Ok to put it all into perspective...from an UNBIASED rating source....Sagarin
Right now Hofstra is the SECOND higest ranked team in the CAA...we are a mere .42 points behind Northeastern.
We are ranked 134th in Div 1 and they are 128.
Also according to Sagarin we should beat Detroit Mercy by 9 points, Bucknell by 10.5, squeak by Princeton by 1 with Stony Brook essentially a pick 'em with us mathematically favored by .5 points.
And finally, at Monmouth Sagarin says it is essentially a pick-em game also.

I'm guessing it's W for News because they didn't want to call it ESPNN with consecutive Ns. The permanent ESPN channels are ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News, ESPNU, and ESPN Classic. There are also ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater only at certain times. Those exclude ESPN3 and ESPN Plus online that aren't TV, and exclude ACC Network and SEC Network that are partners with ESPN but don't have ESPN in the name.

First step is to definitely beat the teams you should. Next is to take the pick em W's as much as possible. Then you try to steal 1-2 that you shouldn't.
If HU can take care of biz against Detroit and Bucknell, grabbing a win over Princeton would be a real quality W, something to actually build positive momentum on.

You got a better chance of learning our nuclear launch codes. Don't you know Stu? NO level of any info, not even a tidbit that doesn't violate any rule, can ever be shared to engage the fanbase. This is Hofstra, clandestine university for no friggin reason. Amazing how other programs can speak but HU is such a special case.
Should we start taking bets whether Bethea ever actually plays a meaningful amount minutes in a game at HU? Who knows why he's out - perhaps he only eats the left twix and Speedy only respects the right?? Maybe he is a secret plant by SBU to take up a spot and do nothing?? Perhaps he's in fact Keyser Söze??
I mean hey, it could be anything guys!

Beleive COVID is 14 days if not vaccinated and ten if you were.
He played at Iona which was 9 days ago...he will magically appear at some point within the next week or so.

If you guys ponied up some $...only takes $100 to join you could ask these questions pre-game at the new Pride Club Lounge which is now located on the North end of the arena...now you can watch the game from there and enjoy a drink and some food...much better setup.

That's good to know and remember HUSID, thanks. Def worth the bucks.
But what I'm talking about here is fan engagement. This is about building a community. It's called marketing, outreach, fan connectivity. HU fans are learning about it's own team through OPPOSING outlets. That's ridiculous. HU needs to learn to balance it's privacy components (which I totally understand) with opening up it's doors to ALL fans. That's not info people should have to pay for. It's basic info related to the status of the team. Inside info for Lounge access is for deeper insight on strategy, X's / O's, certain recruiting things, player development nuggets, team behind the scenes, etc.
But some level of ALL of this still needs to be publicly facing. Bring us in for goodness sake, don't push people out or keep them at arms length. That's stupid.
HU has so precious few actual true fans that you need to take extra care and effort to connect with them and make them feel a part of the team. This isn't rocket science. Teams do this all over the country. HU continues to act like the rules are different for them. If others can do it, so can HU.
With each passing day I really question HU's expertise / skill level to elevate its athletic prowess.

For the most part the school gets out the information THEY want to and do a pretty good job of it...however, totally agree that their is precious little insight into the program, the players, etc....which is unlike what the bigger programs do such as St. John's for example...you know the status of EVERY player, injuries, timeline to return.
Hofstra does not do that...instead choosing to hide behind privacy laws etc.

The CAA punished JMU by taking them off CBS Sports Network. Hopefully the spots will be replaced by other CAA games. Here are our games on those days:
Monday January 3: We host UNCW at 7:00 P.M., and it would be moved up to 6:00 P.M. if it is televised as part of the only CAA doubleheader
I'm quoting myself to say that this game was postponed to 8:00 P.M. for CBS Sports Network, and Towson at Drexel was moved from 8:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. It's our only televised home game. It could be a minor honor to be the game that TV wants later, but the downside is not having the beginning televised if the first game takes too long. Our second, third, and sixth CAA games will be on TV, but none after that.
From January 9 through 22, we play five consecutive day games. I wonder when the last time (if ever) we played five consecutive day games was.
