Looking at the photos from the game at GoHofstra. A couple of shots of Joe's camel hair jacket on an empty chair....nice homage to Coach.

Way to go Elon, big kudos to them, one heckuva comeback! COVID craziness in march across many leagues
But if Lewis plays they're not winning this game - have to be fair here, JMU came in with a huge missing component that would easily be the difference-maker. Tough for ANY team to overcome losing the POY, and I believed it would be felt for them, and it happened in their first game against a team that plays up for the tourney.
But so does HU baby. Won't be easy, but won't be easy for them either. This is a HUGE opportunity here for HU, let's GET THIS !

Only the second time in the CAA tournament that the top seed lost in the quarterfinals, the first time in regulation.
Both times, it was JMU.
The previous time was 8th-seeded Navy, in OT, over top-seeded JMU, in 1991.
Top seeds are now 32-2 in the CAA quarterfinals, since the tourney started in 1986 (there were a few years when the top seed was automatically advanced to the semis, getting a quarterfinal round bye... which I bet JMU wishes it had today!

).

That's good information. The seed 5 through 8 all reached the Semifinals this year and/or last year.
With 1:13 left, Elon drew a shooting foul and technical on Coach Mark Byington to get 3 free throws. They made all 3 to go up 68-66. Elon led 10-6 early, and James Madison led from 14:48 left in the first half to 1:13 left in the game. Justin Amadi made 2 free throws to tie it at 68. Ikenna Ndugba made a layup with 31 seconds left. After the clock was reviewed, James Madison got it with 30.4 seconds left. Hunter McIntosh drew an offensive foul, but after Elon inbounded, he fell and lost the ball. James Madison's Julien Wooden missed a three with 9 seconds left. Hunter McIntosh got the rebounds, was fouled, and made both of a one-and-one to go up 72-68 with 4 seconds left. Vado Morse, who is James Madison's leading scorer other than Lewis, banked in an irrelevant three, and Elon won 72-71. After having our trip their canceled, we will play Elon. Elon shot twos horribly but shot threes and free throws well. McIntosh (24), Simon Wright (18 which was over quadruple his average of 4.3), and Ndugba (14) were Elon's double-digit scorers. Darius Burford and Hunter Woods scored 8, and they had only five scorers. Chuck Hannah shot 0-3 to not score and foul out in 11 minutes. James Madison got 21 from Amadi and Morse. Amadi made all 8 field goals and 5 of 6 free throws. Morse shot 7-20 including threes 3-10. Their other seven players scored 2 to 6. Their third leading scorer was sub Zach Jacobs, who scored 6 in 13 minutes.
http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmoni ... ?id=340270 will have statistics for Northeastern vs. William & Mary at 6:00 P.M.

It's suddenly getting less chalky over the past two years than it was before, huh? Much of that has to do with Elon's two runs though.
Kind of amazing that Elon pulled that off going just 8/25 from 2 and trailing by 15 in the second half today. But when they really had to, they hit a few key 2-point shots on drives in the final minutes.

James Madison fans are made about two technicals, and a fan said the CAA will make a statement. I wonder if the CAA would go as far as overruling the call and replaying the end like George Brett's pine tar game against the Yankees (I'm not going to describe it, if you don't know you can search). Elon won (unless it is changed after the fact), and James Madison is at home, so they could replay the last 1:13 tomorrow afternoon without making any team stay longer. I'm not saying they will or should do that, and it would be strange if we had to wait to find out our opponent, but replaying the end is logistically possible.

Nothing worse than a sore loser. Stop the steal! (We need to know which color jersey to wear, so there is that, logistically speaking)

Except Hofstra wouldn’t know which team to prepare for tonight would would be a nightmare film and gameplan wise. I know it’s a difference conference but man if the Big East didn’t replay the end of that St. John’s-Rutgers game in the Big East tournament in 2011 nothing should be replayed.

If they negate the Elin win its time for a few teams to leave after the season I know we dont think much of the refs in this conference but let them do their job without someone looking over their shoulders if after the tournament us over and the CAA wants to discipline the refs So be it

It's interesting for us to discuss here and the pine tar game is a good analogy, but if they do that, it would be a crazy national story, not just a CAA story - one that would probably have less of a chance of happening than a meteor hitting the court as Hofstra and Elon tip off tomorrow night.

The CAA angered JMU by saying that Coach Byington got a technical for arguing while out of the coach's box, which coaches do a lot.
http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmoni ... ?id=340270 has statistics and William & Mary leads Northeastern 23-17. We swept W&M and got swept by NU, so we should root for W&M, but it only matters if the winner of this game and us win tomorrow.
After we play Elon, we will have played 12 of the 13 teams that are or were in the CAA with us including the four teams that left. We haven't played Charleston in the CAA Tournament. 2020 was the seventh complete CAA Tournament Charleston played in and was the first time they were in the same half of the bracket as us. They were the 4 and lost to 5 seed Delaware.
Our game had 27 free throw attempts in the first half, and 33 in the second half. I took a screen shot of William & Mary vs. Northeastern's box score at halftime because nobody attempted a free throw! W&M leads 28-25.

W&M leads NU 28-25 at halftime.
No free throws attempted in that entire first half but 23 3s attempted out of 57 total shots. That's today's game. (shrug)

NU has taken control coming out of the locker room. 19-4 run to go up 44-32. I think they pull away from here and win by around 20.

NE is blowing out W&M in the second half as you would expect but both Walters and Strong are not playing for them. Wonder if they’ll be back at any point during this tournament.

You said Walker isn't playing, but you meant Walters. Northeastern scored 25 in the first half and 24 in the first half of the second half. It's now 52-38. Even if it isn't close, the CAA had two close games this afternoon.
