This has to be the easiest pregame speech Speedy has ever had after seeing the top two seeds get manhandled today.

This is unreal... could this path be laid out anymore beautifully for HU??
I mean, this is just wild - this team better come out with PURPOSE - there can be no excuses here, it doesn't get any better than this for HU. Nearly a dream scenario unfolding.
We will need the POY to actually play like one in this CAAT - seems Mr Tejada took some offense and is fired up. I sure hope our team comes out with similar fire in their belly. No houdini acts from any of our leaders or our staff, let's finally make some statements.
We can not blow this. We just can not. 1-0. 1-0. 1-0. This team better SHOW UP and KICK SOME TAIL.

Obviously on paper this couldn't have gone any better today. But I did love that if we survived tonight imo all the pressure was gonna be off if it was Charleston and UNCW left. We were gonna get to be the hunter and not the hunted, and I think Speedy's teams have traditionally played far better than way.
Now, all the pressure is back on Hofstra, which makes it a little more scary despite the lesser opponents, if that makes sense.
But of course have to survive tonight first.

Personal peeve: Five CAA tournament games, five times the lower seed has worn black uniforms (including two, Hampton and Elon, who don't have black as one of their regular school colors). Northeastern and Campbell do, but not as a primary for either. Annoying.
Hate the Black uniforms we wore them in our last game at home. Towson could be the Cinderella in this tourney being picked for first and having just a 500 record during the season somehow they're believing in themselves and could upset Charleston. I don't think it would be a shocker.
W&M thankfully in green. Only the second time in the first nine games of this tournament without a lower seed wearing a black uniform (along with Drexel). Towson was the only one that should have worn black out of all of those.

I wonder if a team in any conference has ever been first in the preseason poll, gotten a 7 seed or worse, and won the conference tournament. I am not saying Towson will win it, but KenPom has them with the best defense in the CAA, and holding Charleston to 56 is impressive.

My TV's description of Campbell vs. Monmouth has the wrong logo for Monmouth. They have the logo of the Monmouth Scots, who are a non-Division I team in Illinois.

This is the first time in the 44-year history of the CAA tournament that the top two seeds failed to reach the semifinals, and the first time a 9 seed reached the semis.
It's only the third time a 1 seed didn't reach the semis. The other two times a 1 seed didn't reach the semis, the 2 seed got there.
With a 9, 4, 7, and 3, the total seed number of 23 is the highest ever in CAA tournament history.

It's there for us to win and I'm sure we probably are now big favorites to win this now lets get it done.

With the demise of UNCW and Charleston, ESPN has Hofstra as a 14th seed playing Purdue. Hope we don't disappoint Joe Lunardi.

That's not bad at all. Even with the CAA's highest ratings, 14 is pretty good for a third-place team in the CAA.

Hofstra is offering a fan shuttle from Hofstra to CareFirst Arena tomorrow if they win tonight.

Getting ahead of ourselves but we should be a 13 if we pull this off. We're ranked higher than almost all of Lunardi's current 13 seeds. However, Lunardi's current bracket with the Purdue game being in Philly and it being same site where he has Uconn vs Merrimack (2/15) and UNC vs Miami OH (6/11) would be an incredibly fun draw. I'd take that over being a 13 but being shipped off to like Portland

Oh man... so excited for tonight, but I also haven't seen anyone mention that Towson campus is an hour from CareFirst arena and tonight will basically be a Towson home game with their two top players playing out of their minds...
Again-- we should WIN! But I think it's going to be a tough match and we should by no means be talking seeding yet

I don't even want to get into seeding, I just want to go 1-0 tonight baby!!! I'm so desperate I'd take ANY seed at this point

I hope that's a discussion point we get to have on Wednesday!!
IS IT GAME TIME YET?!?!?!?!?

They never draw in DC as well as they should though. They didn't even in Baltimore!

Looks like Monmouth starting to pull away from Campbell here early in the 2nd half. Campbell has 17 turnovers and only 22 shots in just under 23 minutes. Some of that is nerves, but some of that is Monmouth bringing the defense we saw in the OT game at the Mack.

Monmouth won 74-64. Monmouth had four players play at least 34 minutes. Monmouth's Kavion McClain and Campbell's Jeremiah Johnson scored 21. McClain made 10 free throws. Monmouth's Jason Rivera-Torres scored 15, and led all players with 7 rebounds. McClain, Johnson, and one other guy on each team tied for the most assists with 3. Both teams shot threes 3-18. Johnson led all players in efficiency and net points, and McClain led all players in game score.

Yup, they are very pesky (22-6, Hawks in Pts Off TOs - there's your ballgame). But I think Hofstra could handle that better tomorrow night than Campbell did tonight.
